If someone agreed to give a million dollars to two charities/organizations of your choice, which two would you choose and why?
Let’s say a benevolent millionaire wants to give two charities/organizations a million and they have chosen you to tell them which ones to give it to….which would you choose?
I would split the million between ASPCA because I can not stand animal cruelty and ACLU because I find their work important, more important than people seem to think it is…

Help for Heroes because if anyone deserves a bit of support it is the men and women that have given so much for the rest of us
Medecins Sans Frontieres because I believe they do a great deal of ameliorative work.
Edit: You said two! GMHC. I have supported them since the time when all my friends were dying and no one else cared.

The Grameen Bank because I think their work makes a real difference in the lives of the poor in underdeveloped countries.
And Animal Charities of America who can spread the money to smaller animal groups that do great work.
Two people already beat me to the punch on heifer project. I just think it is such a neat self perpetuating idea. And it makes the recipients more than just the object of charity as it enables them to share with their neighbors when the animals have babies.
For the second I would search out a local rescue group which is underfunded to save more animals. It would be one with a no-kill philosophy.
The animal shelter in my town is taking donations to build a million dollar no kill shelter. So far, they only have $100,000. I would ask the donation go to help build this shelter.
My dad’s company (they essentially hire those with delevelopmental disabilities to do work for local companies) and a local group home for developmentally disabled children whose parents can’t/don’t take care of them for whatever reason.

I like ASPCA also, I hate animal cruelty. I also would want to donate to the charities that fight child abuse.
