Is there a use for 3D IMAX glasses outside of the theater?

Asked by RocketSquid (3486points) January 1st, 2010

I went to go see Avatar 3D last night, and came home with a pair of the 3D glasses. I was wondering if there’s any use for them, like any books or posters or anything else like that I could use these on.

If I look at the monitor, it goes black in my left eye. That kind of makes me sad, it’d look really cool for video games.

In a year or two, there will be 3D dvd/blu-ray players. You might have a use for them then.

Only looking awesome. I don’t think they’re good for much else.

I have my Avatar glasses as well.
I hoard them at theaters knowing full well my effort to not be screwed by the theater running out of them is the same thing that people like me create.

And I hold onto them for the DVD release.

I just don’t want to be without. :(

Actually, they wont work with the DVD. The theater uses 2 different projectors, so the 2 images are slightly apart, then the lense filter out the right image for the right eye. Your tv can’t do this.

@XOIIO: I might stop stealing them then, I honestly didn’t think about it for more than a few seconds. Thanks for snapping me back into the obvious. :P
