I’ve actually never thought about this before. Great question. I’m not too religious, and neither is my family.. But its nice to think theres someone out there for you!

dpworkin's avatar

I’ve met Curtis Sliwa, does that count?

Rarebear's avatar

No. Not in the slightest.

I dont know if I actually do believe, but I would love the idea of my Dad watching over me.
(I’m not religious either) and for me it’s wishful thinking more than belief.

Yes I do….

but my Guardian Angel is usually on a smoke break and misses alot of opportunities to help.

ragingloli's avatar

As much as I believe in unicorns, fairies and gnomes.

Yes, I think I do believe in guardian angels although it’s one of those things that I can never be sure about. If I have one I certainly don’t know who it is but I hope there is some higher power looking out for me.

dutchbrossis's avatar

I am not sure if they are guardian angels, but I do believe there is something that makes things happen and protects people. Not sure if they are guardian angels or just some kind of power in the Universe

Ughh, thanks for reminding me of this. ~

I heard once that when a guardian angel is about, or an angel, a white feather appears. A few of my friends believe this, and there is a lady that wrote a book on angels and confirmed this, I can’t for the life of me remember her name.

Anyway my mom died in September, and I saw a white feather next to my bed when I woke up which is odd as I live in the city no birds around.

No. Nor any other kind of angels, ghosts, demons, devils, witches fairies, elves, haints, boogers, gremlins, spirits, ghouls, wraiths, gods, heavens, hells, santa claus, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, psychics, astrology, homeopathy, voodoo, vampires, zombies, werewolves, nor miracles.

I like what Curtis Sliwa and his people do, but I’d never do it unarmed.

No and no.

Yes. I didn’t always but in recent years Ive been through alot and experienced situations where I could not doubt the presence of something spiritual near me when I needed it the most. Everytime it’s happened Ive had the feeling that it is my grandfather (who drowned when my mother was 7). Ive seen him and felt him near me numerous times when I was very sick (I have severe Crohns disease), or when someone I love had passed away and I needed that reassurance that god (or whoever/whatever) is still there. I am by no means a religious person. I’ve just become more aware of the energies around me as I grow older and experience certain things. “knowing” that a spirit (or positive energy as I like to call it) is there for you is directly affected by your willingness to be open minded and ‘see’ these things without doubting your instinct. And by exaclly how badly you need to know it’s there in the first place.

“And by exaclly how badly you need to know it’s there in the first place.” That’s it in a nutshell.

Maybe my answer will make you think twice, if you do not believe in guardian angels. i was on a Code 3 call. thats bluelights and siren on the way to an auto crash, people are trapped inside. i was on a state road, 4 lanes, not divided. i was driving according to departmental orders of 10 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. the road i was on was loaded with businesses and traffic lights. i crested this hill and suddenly ran into a line of stopped vehicles, waiting for a red light to change. i had to make an instant decision: either hit the inline cars from behind or swerve and run into the poles along side the road. i headed for the poles. there were two particular poles holding a sign, in front of a Capt. D’s restaurant. i suddenly went airborn in my police vehicle and heading straight for these two poles. all i could think of was…......“field goal”. i was not driving my car, i was at the mercy of my guardian angels. i was driving a big car, a crown vicoria and i knew i was not going to make it in between these two poles. i shut my eyes and prepared for the worst. I MADE IT!!! i don’t know how, but i cleared each pole, right in between both of them. i continued my Code 3 call and helped to save the occupants of the crash. the next day, i went back to this location and just stared at the poles in amazement. i measured the width between the poles and compared it to the width of my crown victoria police car. the poles were wider than my police car by just two inches! this means i cleared both poles by only one inch on each side of my car. what guided my way and prevented a crash for me? my guardian angels were with me all the way. by all thats holy, there is no way i could have manuvered my police car through those standing poles at 50 mph. thank you guradian angels, again!

No, but it is not to believe… NOT!

You make your life happen, and the things around you. Get use to it.

Mrs_Rose's avatar

I don’t think it’s a matter of them “making things happen for you”. I think it’s more along the lines of… Being there for you to recognize that YOU are in control and you are being supported by something greater then yourself. It’s hard to describe to someone who hasn’t experienced the feeling for themselves. You just ‘know’ without doubts or explanation why.

Chikipi's avatar

I’m not religous, but I believe in angels guiding and supporting me throughout my life. I don’t have to see them, but I can feel them flutter around me when I need it most. It’s hard to explain…I just have faith that they are there. If I’m wrong…I don’t really care…it makes my life interesting in believing something is greater than I that I don’t fully understand.

definitive's avatar

Yes I do…there have been a few times in my life where I’ve hit a really low point and didn’t know which way to turn…I recall saying ‘If there is anybody there…help me’. Within a couple of weeks and maybe its down to coincidence but I’ve made life changing decisions and events have happened in my favour. It’s good to believe that no matter where you are in life that things can get better and maybe there is someone looking out for us!

Religious, religious, religious

sorry for the typo :)

faye's avatar

I was told I do and I hope it’s true. I don’t think of them as angels, more as old souls. And I think what they do is more along the lines of giving me strength.

Grisaille's avatar

As nice as it’d be, no.

jca's avatar

i am not religious and i never thought about this question. i know some people do talk about their guardian angels. i am of the mindset that very few things are impossible, so therefore, an guardian angel would be a possibility.

In a symbolic way, yes.
