How can I find a job share partner in Seattle?

Asked by Supergirl (1696points) January 4th, 2010

I am wanting to teach part time next year. My principal would really like me to find a person (as opposed to posting for the job through Seattle Schools). I have only taught in Seattle for two years and don’t know of anyone who could do this. Any recommendations on finding interested teachers?

Supergirl, don’t really understand the question. What is a job share partner? Never heard of that!

Wow, your boss wants you to find a teaching partner?? That’s kind of… her job, isn’t it? Maybe your boss has some advice, since she doesn’t want you to post the job… If Seattle Schools has somewhere for teachers to post when they’re looking for jobs, that’d be a good place to look, too. I really can’t think of any way to do this without using the internet though.

A job share is where you split your 1.0 FTE contract with another teacher. So for example, I would like to teach mornings, and find someone who would like to teach in the afternoons. We get half pay and half benefits. It is a popular solution for people who have or are having children.

Would an ad on Craigs List help with this?

@dr_lawrence: I don’t know, is that sketchy?

@Supergirl Again, just curious what you question meant! Thought teacher’s job were posted and people apply and the best person gets the job. Did not understand the comment about share partners!
