TIFF is lossless and uncompressed
Big files, with all the original detail.
JPEG is lossy and compressed
Small files, trading detail for smaller files
For on-screen use, JPEG is almost always preferred, because the TIFF files are really huge, 10X the size of JPEGS.
Jaykay mentioned TIFF size. The bigger the file the longer the load time. The longer the load time the more restless the audience.
As for combining the power of Power Point, and Macromedia Director, Indezine offers an in-depth and user friendly guide.
