Love is a commonly used word but does it have a scientific aspect?
Is it real? Or Is it just a generalization for many other things?

It’s more like once we love, we try to come up with its causes
I think what causes one to love is entirely dependent on each individual. Not only does the definition of love change from one individual to the next, but the reasons themselves are also just as variable. One might not know why they love, one might understand perfectly why they love someone. One might love for money, one might love for safety and security, one might love because they’re lonely.
Chemicals are involved, yes… But even those do not describe love in its entirety – because we all experience something different. Love is as real as people want it to be or need it to be. Love is just as real as hate or any other emotion.
Edit: Love can also be viewed as a survival mechanism. People are far more likely to survive and succeed if they have one or more people by their side. Not a single person can get through life alone, at some point in their life or another. With companions willing to help you, stand by you, etc… Life becomes much easier, in many regards.
OMG KEV I AM WATCHING THAT RIGHT NOW AND MY LAB WAS JUST ON IT
@nikipedia, neato! Yeah, it looks like a great series.
@DrasticDreamer
So your saying one can only love other people?
Also I think you might have some argue (not me) but that love is more than just an emotion, and that is more specifically what the question implies (or atleast what i ment it to). Is it more than just human feelings?
Dopamine. Appropriately named, I might add…
I read online about someone who parked their car at night in a very dark area. When exiting the car he looked up at the night sky which was so awe inspiring he fell to his knees…. filled with emotion. So vast and beautiful….he felt so small in comparison. The wonder and design of our universe can take a persons breath away.
Love..the kind of Love that has come into my life….....causes me to also fall to my knees in my heart…........I am awe struck and humbled by the obvious design and unbelievable magnitude that is so far beyond anything I could ever-possibly imagined.
Incredible feelings….......Love, desire, unity, oneness, understanding & a connection that makes the term soul mate seem trite.
As each discovery unfolds about our oneness I can only determine there is absolutely no possible way we met by accident. Brought to my remembrance recently was a type of person I knew I wanted to marry when I was 14. Forgotten throughout the years until now. That is merely a nano part of our entirety.
It’s like we have we known each other since the beginning of time. Our beliefs, interests, likes, dislikes, out of the box thinking…......quirkiness in certain things,.everything. Being ordained by God is so complete….......tonight I’m
almost speechless…...........almost hahahahaha. but truly humbled and grateful
to God for a Love that is so awesome.
@JessicaisinLove Good for you. You are very lucky. That sounds like the kind of love, the kind of feelings, I hope to have for someone someday, and the kind of feelings I hope someone will have for me someday.
You are blessed indeed.
@JessicaisinLove I felt the same way when I found the other half of my soul. She is now my wife and I feel blessed everyday to be with her.
i dont know.but i definately know what things cause one not to love anymore!egoism, lack of sensitivity to partner needs,constant complains even on trivial stuff..
Much agreed with JessicasinLove. Kudos.
@tb1570….thanks….I hope you do also….........
@Dr_Lawrence…..the other half of your soul…...........that explains it perfectly.
i don’t even know what the term ‘love’ is because i’ve never experienced it. it does not sound enjoyable.
