Why is it that with a Cold- You get worse before it gets better?
I am currently fighting a sinus and lung infection thanks to the cold weather and metropolitan area where I live. I don’t like how the infection has traveled from my lungs and now my sinus’ and ears. Does anyone have the scientific reasoning as to how the virus works? references to websites are helpful. Thanks.

One, it takes a while for your immune system to work. A cold is a virus not caused by the cold weather but the cold weather will make it harder to fight. Your body is overworking in the winter trying to keep you warm so its kind of busy when you catch a cold. As for the sinuses your body is trying to get rid of the virus by creating mucus to expel the virus. Unfortanely nasal drip often goes down your throat and into your lung creating more havac. I will usually rinse my sinuses with saline solution and then use nasal drip at the beginning of a cold to limit the amount of mucus at the first sign of a cold. If that isn’t working than I take therma flu and that usually will stop it before it gets really bad. I take the therma flu day time one. It doesn’t make me sluggish like other cold meds and last for hours. If you are home try the therma flu night. You will feel way better by morning. As for your ears, your sinuses and ear canals run into each other slightly. Ever notice when you blow your nose you ears will pop?
I also have a cold at the moment.
I had Swine FLu toward the end of last year and it really knocked me for six too.
Just now though I have the blocked sinuses, headache, sore throat and runny nose too.
My wife works in the NHS here in the UK so I was kept well informed with the swine flu, Getting a cold is such a bummer though.
Especially when it travels through the body, lungs etc.

How does the Common Cold Affect Your Body
common cold
the one thing that really peeves me about the cold, is how it seems to feel worse in the evening, and waking up with both nostrils blocked and “dry mouth”. I’ve been lucky so far and havent gotten the cough.
Sometimes I’ve seen me coughing to the point of almost passing out.
I generally use Cold and flu tabs and dose up with plenty water, lots of vitamin c, and Chucky eggs and Soldiers.
(International Translation Note: ‘Soldiers’ when made from bread are thin strips of buttered bread or buttered toast used for dipping into a boiled egg. Chucky egg (for me anyway) is de-shelled boiled eggs in a cup or bowl and mashed up with a touch of butter and seasoning)
There is a cure for the common cold…................It’s in a vault in Area 51, beside the spaceship and chunk of Kryptonite… :0)
I think its just like anything else. Its always the darkest before sunrise ;)
