How would you feel about human hibernation?

Asked by Sandydog (1265points) January 6th, 2010 from iPhone

If it were possible would you go into Hibernation during the winter?
I’d probably hibernate from October – March as I prefer it to be light going to/from work and cant stand snow.
I also feel a lot more tired in the winter and have less energy

Ah, but then everything done would have to be regional. You wouldn’t be able to talk to anyone from the other hemisphere during summers/winters.

Already do.

As much as I love to sleep and hate being cold, I don’t think I would want to hibernate. I would feel like I was wasting too much time.

I don’t think I’d want to race the clock. Imagine what you might miss: a new romance, winning the lottery, watching your kids grow. Life’s too short as it is.

These last few weeks have been the closest to hibernation I’ll ever get.

What if hibernation sent our bodies into a kind of “stop” mode and we lived twice as long in years?

Not really, I like working and making money so I can live lol.

I am programmed for hibernation. Too bad I can’t follow my instincts.
I do try though. : )

I think I’m programmed too Wilma :-)

Would we also have to scour our digestive tract and form a plug in the anus to prevent from eating any more food?

The only kind of human hibernation I’d want to participate in would be long-term hibernation, lasting in excess of 15 years, preferably far beyond that.

Perhaps. When the technology is ready. I’d like to see Mars and Io.
