You could say, they coordinated the events? Guided the events in an effective way? I know what you mean about translating!

perhaps something like: “acted with aplomb to ensure the successful and timely realization of the project” or “their adroit actions enabled the well received efforts in a timely and professional fashion”.

Your own translation seems appropriate and concise. Anything else is going to sound like MBA “buzzwords”.

“Unfolding” invokes a certain kind of metaphor. Your choice of language seems well suited to that metaphor. I can’t think of a better way to say it without changing the metaphor; for example, guiding the project successfully through all its stages, or even (taking it back one level) creating a comprehensive project plan that anticipated all eventualities and could be executed successfully at every stage.
