Why haven't I been getting the amount of lurve that I used to?
I’ve been a member for about half a year now and I used to get lurve for every Great Answer and Great Question that I got. Recently, though, I see that I don’t get lurve all the time. I check my recent GA’s and GQ’s under the Lurve box and see that I’ve gotten a couple recent ones, yet my lurve number doesn’t go up. Only about 25% of the time now do I get lurve. Why is this? Could it be an error or does Fluther not like me anymore?

I notice something similar now and then, and I haven’t even been here that long.
Maybe Fluther punishes us when it knows we care too much about lurve. :3 (Speaking for myself.)
Users can only give you a certain amount of lurve I think it is like 100 GA’s or 200 I can’t remember the specific amount. After a user gives you their max amount of GA’s you no longer recieve the points from that GA. It’s not that Fluther doesn’t lurve you! We just lurved you so much too quickly! :)
If anyone knows the correct amount of the max GA’s a user can give please correct me
Every user has a limited number of lurve that they can give an individual – it prevents buddies from gaming the lurve system. You are also limited t how much lurve you can get on each answer.
In my own case, those folks that seem to like my sense of of humor (or whatever drives someone to give me lurve) seem to be maxed out. However, each time we have an influx of new users, lurve rates tend to go up until a new equilibrium is reached.
@sjmc1989: You’re right, it’s 100. But it seems like he/we should still be gaining lurve. I’ve noticed people who couldn’t possibly have maxed me out giving me GAs without lurve. It’s like sex without love.
Is it 100 GA’s per person, or 100 lurve points (which would be 20 GAs)?
@absalom how do you know who’s giving you lurve?
@Likeradar: Oops. 100 lurve.
Just a hunch, I guess.
There’s that cap, 100 per user, and there’s also a cap on the question/answer itself. After 5 GAs, you don’t get any bonus lurve from that answer. I don’t know the exact number, but I know there’s a system like that for GQs as well.
I wish that there was a way for the cap to be modified, but its that stinkin’ lurve cap that’s causing this. I completely get why its there, but it would be nice if it reset every 6 months or so.
@erichw1504: Either you are an undeserving wretch, or the huge wave of Answer baggers has either used up its quota or calmed down. There was initially GA’s for “thanks much,” “that’s a fun question,” “I luv seeing you here hun,” and the like.
After the tidal wave, the calm of the gently rolling ocean.
There are constant influxes of new people. If you work hard, you can write answers that even the new people think are worthy of lurve.
In any case, you get the same amount of lurve as you always did. It’s just that less of it counts towards your actual score.
The Fluther Gods have been very active lately, maybe it’s an “update” problem, or maybe you have reached the Fluther God-given limit your friends can give to you.
Actually wgaff . You can’t trade em in like frequent flyer miles or anything…and I can’t believe I’m actually telling you this..there’s really no mansion up here
@SeventhSense Maybe you just don’t have the right address… cause right now I’m sitting in the mansion being fed grapes, while i dictate to my pet monkey what to type.
You got a pet monkey and grapes?! Unghh.. just 542 lurve to go. Pet monkey, here I come!
@Likeradar
That’s no way to talk about eponymoushipster..:)
@Likeradar So you got the last of the grapes. I’m sitting in the community hot tub, beside the pool drinking champagne without grapes.
You know what they say… you gotta give lurve to get lurve.
@Austinlad Well, not really – if you give good questions and answers, you are bound to get lurve
@YARNLADY, I was trying to be cute. Certainly what you say is true.
