Where can I get the value for collectible bicycles?

Asked by srmorgan (6773points) January 7th, 2010

I have an old Schwinn banana bike, made in Chicago, with all the original equipment on it. It is in very good condition with just a few scratches. ( I don’t know if the tires are original).

My kids rode it but the youngest is 19 now and stopped riding it when he was around 12.

I want to get an approximate value for the bike. It is time to clear out a lot of old stuff in the garage and we might have a tag sale in the spring.

Thanks

Hubbs, cyclist, says there are collector’s guides you can buy, but he recommends going to ebay and seeing what similar bikes are going for as well as what people are paying.

Here’s a good link

Once you can place the year and model it will be easier to do a search.

It sounds like an orange crate, or lemon peeler
They are very collectible although the market is still recovering for many vintage bikes.
Once determined head to ebay or check with me and I can go back further on other software to see recent history at a variety of auctions.
