I used to use moss-covered rocks.
As long as the bark is big enough that he can’t swallow it, it should be okay. But any specialized reptile bark is probably a safe bet.
I don’t know anything about anoles.
Make sure it’s misted. If it’s dry, they won’t like it too much.
It’s gotta be super moist in there.
And why do you think he “doesn’t like it”?
I can’t keep the moss growin
becuz he never stays on it
on his food bowl all day long an I have a mist gun I spay 3 to 4 times a day
Is there food in there?
Or is he lounging in the water?
Anoles are pretty boring.. so he’s not gonna do much.
Does he have things to climb on?
ya there is food in there. An ya I have a hot rock he gose on that in tha summer when the a/c is on an I have sticks in the an he gose on them to some times an how can I keep moss growin like I go out in tha woods an get some an put it in there an like 2 weeks later its dead
Okay.
First. You don’t have to answer, but how old are you?
Second.
Can you take a picture of the tank? If not, can you tell me everything that’s in it?
Third.
Please, please don’t put random plants from outside in the tank unless you know they aren’t harmful to anoles.
I’m 15 an I font I’m out side about 4 yrs ago an no I can’t take a pic of the tank. An yes there is bark on the bottom there is a lil pool an there is a anole food bowl an stick(about 5 or 6) big ones that go from bottom to top an side to side that’s about it I have 3 tanks 1 with green tree frogs 1 with the anole an last with a corl snake
sorry about the spelling I’m on my itouch an its super hard to tipe on here
Spelling and grammar are your friends. Or they could be.
It’s okay. I can still understand it.
Welcome to Fluther, by the way.
Okay. What kind of “bark” is on the bottom?
You need more than just some sticks.
Go to a pet store, and look in the reptile section. They will have some good plastic vines and things for him to crawl and hide in. He needs that.
Do you have a basking lamp for him?
Get him another anole for those lonely nights.
ya an 85 wt lamp pine bark like pine tree bark an alot of it like a inc or so the pet store told me to do that
the pet store said they would fight
And all this time I thought “anole” was just a term for a student at FSU.
I guess it’s time for me to get to bed; I’ve learned my new thing for the day. And it’s about time, too.
@Jacob23, you might be a teenager, but I’m going to think of you as “anole guy”.
ya sweet hope u have a good night
Alright. As long as the bark says reptile safe, he’s fine.
Keep it well misted.
I don’t think he “doesn’t like it”, he just likes climbing.
Get him more things to hide in.
It sounds like you’re doing everything okay.
owww ok my tree frogs an snake is ok I had all of them for more then 2 yrs now an I love them but my mom an dad hates them so muck :)))
haha yap well I’m going to ask alil more ?‘s then going to bad so feel free to talk
Anoles prefer to climb. We had a lovely display put together out of a fiberglass shower stall, with lots of lovely places to hang out. The anoles invariably spent all their time on the ceiling.
I, too, suggest that you need to mist the tank more often. It sounds very dry in there.
You have a Coral Snake? I assume you are careful around him. Did you know that Coral Snakes like to climb also? They are often found in trees in our area.
Reptiles love a hot rock.
And heat is not really an issue for an anole or any cold blooded animal because they need it to survive and regulate their internal temperature. Just make sure there’s a place where they can get away from it and something that they can crawl under to escape the light. The mist is really for them to drink because they lap up droplets of water naturally from plants for their water intake. I’ve had quite a few reptiles over the years but I’ve always been fond of the large snakes. I had a 6.5 foot Burmese python named Monty. He was sweet just like that one.
