When you were younger (teens), those who you tended to crush on, did they have a particular look/style?

Asked by Jude (32204points) January 7th, 2010

Did you tend to go for the jocks? Nerds? Punks? Stoners? Metalheads? Skaters?

God, for me, I crushed on the new wave chicas (late 80’s/ early 90’s) with cute, straight bobs who loved Moz, smoked and had their own sense of style.

This video? I thought that she was smokin’!

They were always female.

I suppose I tended to crush more on the jocks and the preppy-looking guys. There wasn’t really a specific style, but all the most attractive guys were usually from one of those “looks”. Usually athletic, but not always. Of course, all throughout middle and high school I had a crush on my boyfriend. I’m not sure what you’d call him. He joined our “group” at the end of junior year, but before that I’m not sure. In general, I’m just attracted to guys with short hair and I suppose, since everyone thinks my boyfriend looks like me, people who look like me. I mean, I do try to look like what I am attracted to as much as possible (which of course, is what I like to look like and what I have always liked to look like). Short hair, preppy clothing, no tattoos or piercings, etc. I think being gay is unique in that respect because it’s not like you’re going to see straight guys looking like what they’re attracted to…

(And yes, I am still attracted to that type).

They still do. Dark hair, 5’10 to not much taller than 6 feet, average build or a little towards the heavy side, kind of an urban style like Calvin Klein or DKNY, brain in their heads, can keep a conversation going, they do not have to be drop dead gorgeous, sense of humor, and likes to go out to dance (you know what I am talking about @jmah :)).

i don’t have a type, but i leaned towards blondes earlier in my life.

long dark hair, about my height, self assured (wow did that narrowed it down in high school), on the athletic side, not wholly owned by any clique, generally sweet tempered, and perhaps most important – interested in me.

I always liked brunettes and sweet smiling Italian cuties like Marisa Tomei. I would like the girl in your video..for about 10 minutes. About as much as I can handle Morrisey…I just see drama and high maintenance written all over her face

I have always been attracted to guys that are tall, with dark hair. Bad boy image attracted me in school, but not now.

@DominicX
With nice nipples of course. :P

They all kind of looked like Morten Harket from a-ha or John Taylor. Or whatever reasonable facsimile one could see at a suburban Wisconsin high school. So, tall-ish, lots of spiky brown hair, skinny, glass-cutters for cheekbones, etc. Except for the one guy (the one who liked me back), who was a shy jock and who a friend said later reminded her of a young Ricky Nelson with blond curls.

Smart guys, average to good looking. I didn’t really like the pretty boys. Oh, and must have buns. I could totally like a guy and be turned off by him not having any butt. It just felt creepy. But the one thing that alway got me was biceps. The more built his arms were the more I would fantasize about being held in his arms. And a beautiful smile, with dimples would send me over the edge.

@Pandora Buns? Really? I’m actually super turned off if a guy’s butt isn’t flush with his back. I wear the butt in my relationships lol.

I always went for tall, skinny guys with piercings in weird places… and if they turned out to be smart too, forget it. I was a goner. I guess I still have those tastes, though haha

@JLeslie sounds divine. Does he have a sister? :)

@borderline_blonde I think its awesome when we both have something to grab on too. (o.0)

Hmm…as an assless guy, it’s interesting to see not everyone hates that. :P

I’m almost 49. I was at Disneyland the other day and saw these two guys that took me right back to Jr High! They had long brownish Blondie hair (almost to their shoulders), not real thick though, parted in the middle, and a little touch of acne. They wore Jeans and T shirts that reminded me of Led Zeppelin T Shirts. I cracked up because the style was just exactly like those little studs in the mid 70’s that I used to go gaga over! Ah, Ben Cartledge, my first crush that really liked me back.

@DominicX Sorry. :( If it makes you feel better there are plenty of guys that like girls who have legs that go on forever. I’m only 5 ft. So my legs only go midway. LOL

JLeslie's avatar

@jmah Yes, she is an older version of Eva Longoria. Not quite as perfect, but close. My husband and his sister. Check out my wedding pics.

The style didn’t matter, I’ve dated goths and popular girls, but they were always big girls : D

CyanoticWasp's avatar

@Blackberry, as I heard it, didn’t part of your out-of-court settlement include an agreement from you to no longer date little girls?

njnyjobs's avatar

back in the 80’s, punk rocking teenies would certainly catch my eye. in the 90’s, corporate outfitted hotties grabbed my attention. In the new millenium, stripper/hooker-wear clad muffins get my blood flowing . . . *As we begin a new decade, I hope cialis prices become more affordable or gets covered by my prescription plan . . .hehehehe

Blackberry's avatar

@CyanoticWasp not sure what you mean, but I made that agreement with myself long ago lol.
Edit: ok I remember now, yes you’re correct lol.

@Blackberry
What about little thick girls?

Darwin's avatar

They all sort of looked like Paul McCartney. Like him, they never knew I existed.

Blackberry's avatar

@SeventhSense indeed. My style or type of woman is pretty varied weight wise. I just don’t prefer 100 pound women, but I find women attractive from 140 all the way to 250.

SeventhSense's avatar

I’m 6 ft 2 man and I’m close to 2 and a half.
That’s a BIG chick

absalom's avatar

Slender/athletic and well-groomed guys, usually. No tats, no piercings. They tend(ed) to have shorter, darker hair. In three cases it was black hair.

Regarding clique placement: it varied. A nerd or two, a preppy guy, a scene kid. If they played sports, they played something like tennis or soccer, not football.

Unfortunately, three of the guys I’ve crushed on since middle school are staunchly conservative, Christian, and anti-gay. Just my luck, man.

@DominicX: According to my psych prof it’s fairly common to be attracted to similar-looking people, even for straight men/women. Dunno, but I think I like skinny guys ‘cause I’m skinny.

Blackberry's avatar

@SeventhSense Hahaha….yeah I appreciate women is most forms. That’s how I like some of them : )

clarice's avatar

Yes. They all looked like gay boys. (In retrospect) Billy Gilman, Aaron Carter, Daniel Radcliffe, Clay Aiken…

and then my childhood crush of 6 years became gay after being with me for a month.

…I wonder why
