Quick Photoshop Question?

Asked by cjunifer (30points) January 8th, 2010

My friend just gave me a copy of Photoshop CS2.
I want to install it on my laptop and my desktop.
Is there a limit to the number of computers that you can install a single Photoshop disc?

Give it a try and see if it’ll work. There might be a limit, but I would guess not. However you might be prevented from both using the software at the same time if you’re using the same network and Adobe can “see” that you’re both using the same copy. The solution there would be to disconnect from the internet and reopen the program. This happened in one of my dorms, by the end of the year about half the dorm was using the same copy of Microsoft Word.

2, if you are both plugged into the internet. The program will determine if there is more than one user, and you won’t be able to run it until someone uninstalls it. Happened at work, someone had to uninstall so a third could run it.

@Siren If I download it to just my laptop and desktop, then there shouldn’t be a problem? What if, in addition, I give it to my friend who is on a different network? Will he be able to run it as a third user?

Yes. I believe you can load it to 2 computers at a time.

Once your friend loads it on their computer and gets on the internet, Adobe checks to see who’s running it with your serial number, and no one will be able to use it until one of you either uninstalls or gets off the internet or closes the program down (or all three).

It’s not about how many people are using it on the same network, but how many computers are running it, period (that Adobe is aware of). At least that was my experience. If you trust your friend and let him load it, and you can’t use it because of that reason, and your friend is willing to uninstall or not run it, you should be okay. If you don’t know if your friend will do as you request, I wouldn’t lend it to your friend, in case you are the one left not being able to use it.

Am I confusing you, or is it clear? as mud

No, that’s pretty clear. Thanks a lot.

There certainly is a limit. Let me know when you want the hack.
