Do you use a messenger to chat on line?
I use MSN to chat on line. I am annoyed by them always asking me to up date. They attempt to change my privacy settings . Do you have this problem ?

I hate MSN’s messenger. I only had one friend who I talked to on there & we now talk on Facebook’s chat. So I’m done with it. I also use Yahoo. I IM a lot & it’s easy to use.
I use Adium for the few times I do chat. I’ve used Google Chat and Yahoo in the past, and for as little as I chat they were fine also.
I use YM through Adium on my laptop and the iphone YM app from my phone; I can’t recall anytime I had my settings switched without my knowing and the update frequency seems reasonable to me.
FWIW I tend to avoid the clients altogether since my uni blocks the ports jabber uses for some unknown reason. Meebo FTW.
I have most of them, but generally only use AIM and Y!
They update because they have new features and bug fixes, not to annoy you.
I use MSN pretty often, but not as often as I used to. I don’t really mind updates all that much. Changes happen.
I marvel at the technology, but me, I’d rather talk to people in person. I mean, how do you pat a friend on the back with IM???
OK I hate the up dates because they keep changing my privacy settings . We kid around and take silly family pictures which we save for us. They want me to show them to everyone. Also updates come up when I am turning off the computer or working on line.
I usually delay it.
Why do they keep changing my settings ? Can I stop this permanently ?
Most of my friends are on Yahoo but MSN links us together.
I haven’t used a messanger or ‘chatted’ online for years and years and years.
I use AIM occasionally; it’s not too annoying. I use it because my kids are on it.
I use Yahoo regularly, if I have a long time friend that prefers another I will download that. I use MSN occasionally and I have used AIM, but I tend to delete anything that has to do with AOL. I also use ICQ but just about the only people I chat to there are family. And that is because it is the only one my 80yo father knows how to use. Even if I don’t say anything to him first thing in the morning it is comforting to see him sign on. ICQ used to have a feature called “Find a Friend” that was just to find a random party around the world willing to chat to strangers. My oldest ICQ friend I started chatting to on the random chat over ten years ago. We still chat regularly, when we first started chatting she was 14 and I was 44 I have kind of watched her grow up as we swap pics regularly. Now she is married and has a new baby. If I ever make it to Australia she and her hubby will be two folks I have to visit.
