Can anyone tell me how to get iTunes to stop trying to downloading this T.V. program?
I made the mistake of purchasing the high definition version of a television program I wanted to watch. I’ve made my peace with paying the $2.99 for my mistake but the big problem is that the HD version takes so long to download. I don’t use iTunes all that much but I have deleted, cancelled, stopped that damn thing everywhere and every way I can think of and know how to do, I’ve done everything I know how to get rid of it but every time I log on something sets it off and iTunes starts downloading this show again. What am I doing wrong? I can’t seem to get rid of the thing. Help!

@lillycoyote GQ I am having the same issue, but I haven’t had time to research. I guess I have given up and I keep hitting the X to close. I am tempted just to leave my computer on all day and let it download so it will stop trying.
In iTunes Settings/Preferences click on the Store tab and un-check the boxes there (they are: “Automatically check for available downloads” “Automatically download prepurchased content” etc.
If that doesn’t work, you can click on the Store icon in the left-hand “sources” column, and once you see the storefront (homepage) load, click on your username in the upper-right corner; this should bring up a pop-up to sign in with your password, and in the bottom-left there is a button to “Sign Out.” Click that button to sign out, which should disconnect you from the iTunes servers. Or else, turn off your Wi-Fi card until you can re-download the HD content.
Hope that helps.
@sndfreQ But I don’t want to download the HD content. I want it to be gone. I want to delete it. Is the only way to stop it, to get rid of it, to finish downloading it?
Don’t know…push comes to shove, maybe have a friend download it onto their computer (they would need to sign in to your account on their computer). Once a download cycle for that movie is complete iTunes won’t download it again.
I think your only other option is to contact support from inside iTunes and request to cancel it on their side. They would be able to kill the download from the server side.
I don’t know if it will work, but have you tried “force quit?” Click on the apple pull down, click “force quit” then click on itunes. It’s worth a shot.
@gardengirl10 I can get iTunes to stop downloading the show manually, but then every time I get back on it tries to download it again. I am looking for a way to get the show completely out of the “system” so it won’t keep trying to download it. I have repeatedly deleted if my my library but it just comes back.
