Ladies: Would you ever agree to a genre-themed (ie., Star Wars) wedding?
I stumbled across these photos:

Though it looks quite beautiful (the geek in me loves it), I have to wonder: what kind of woman would allow her day to be turned into this?
I realize there are girl-geeks too, but I think women tend to be better than men about separating their interests/hobbies from their “real” lives.
Anyways, any female jellies who’d be open to this type of wedding? What theme would you allow your future hubby talk you into?

Noooo.
But then again, my partner and I aren’t that into anything. Our relationship sort of started in Vegas due to poker and I could see us incorporating a little something about that into the wedding, so I understand how some couples might think themes are right for them.
If they both like it, I think it’s awesome. I wouldn’t have my wedding like that, but I don’t see the problem as long as it’s what the couple wants.
…And… Was that little boy blowing up a condom…?
It would TOTALLY depend upon which theme or which genre.
If it was an interest we both shared, I’m pretty adventurous. I saw one couple who got married aboard a hot air ballon and then took a mutual bungie jump over the side.
Another couple did an undersea wedding in their scuba gear.
I’m not fanatically interested in either of these, but I thought they were pretty unique.
But, I definitely draw the line at being married by an Elvis impersonator. Just way too tacky for my taste :)
Why not? Books are my life, sot its quite fitting.
But there are those themes that would never go through—never!
I have a friend who approached her outdoor wedding in a horse drawn carriage perfectly timed to the theme of “Jaws”. After the ceremony, they came down the aisle to the tune of “The end of the world as we know it”.
Did anyone else notice the picture of the kid blowing up a condom!?
Click on “See all…” and past halfway there is the picture….ahem…
I love Star Wars, but I’m a guy so I can’t really answer this question.
My gf would never agree to it anyways.
Star Wars? Not a chance. A fairy tale themed wedding? Possibly.
I LOVE Star Wars! I would do it!
LOL I totally looked past the little boy and the interesting balloon.
I think these type of wedding is neat. I am not a big star wars fan, but a theme wedding sounds like fun. I have debated with the economy downfall for when I get married if it would be best to go to Vegas and put a down payment on a house instead of a huge wedding.
If I was going to go all out then I would want to be dressed like they did in the Romantic Period or Victorian Era 1837— 1901
As long as they are having fun, let them have it. I am not a fan of themes. I enjoy simplicity. But hell, I got married in a pizza shop, so I’m not one to judge!!
Weddings used to simply consist of 2 people getting hitched. Now it is often an event or a happening, all orchestrated from minute to minute. If it makes everyone happy, who cares.
If my future husband would go for it, I would!! I love Star Wars, but most themed weddings are too cheesy. I liked the one that you gave as an example. It was sweet. :)
That one, specifically, looks awesome! But, generally, I can’t imagine agreeing to something themed, especially Star Wars. That couple probably had a lot of money to do all that. I suspect most Star Wars themed weddings are cheesy, nerdy, and embarrassing.
I would totally go for it – and really it would be our day if we were both into something…after all, your old run of the mill wedding these days is the same as the next one – brides and grooms are too afraid to do anything non-traditional…weddings are a genre all on their own – the boring genre.
No, but a friend of mine had a pirate wedding.
Actually, I kind of wanted to do a theme. My dream was to get married on my grandparents’ 50th anniversary and have a 1940s theme. Unfortunately, marriage was not in the cards for another 7 years.
I think as long as the couple loves each other, then they can do anything they want . Its their special day and I think its neat to try to incorporate their interests and hobbies into that.
Although I probably would not have a Star Wars themed wedding, I think I would do something else that would be extraordinary. Just as long as he and I are happy with it. Which is really all that counts. :)
The wedding could be in an ice hotel or even in a balloon in Turkey for all we care. As long as its what we want, then its all good. :)
Although I really do think that a wedding in a hot air balloon would be cool. Especially in Turkey… :)
It sounds like fun! If both of them agree to it- I say Go For It!! I think a Disney themed wedding is cute- for example: Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin & Jasmine- you get the idea. Heck: I know that there are people who have pirate themed weddings and Renaissance Weddings- it sure is fun to go back in time :).
@fancyfeast my husband would make a great beauty next to my beast
I WANT LIGHTSABERS AT MY WEDDING.
HOLY CRAP.
I LOVED IT! I’D DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT!
Especially if I could manage to look that good in that dress!
If someone answered yes to this they are freakin awesome .. lol! Not because of the theme.. but because of how understanding a person or how nerdy this person is…both are sexy.
My comment in the chat room:
I want a zombie theme wedding with a lightsaber tunnel to enter through.
For a first wedding I don’t think I would have ever agreed, at least not at a young age. If I was ever to remarry I might go for it. I worked with a woman who had a medieval wedding theme. Not only the wedding party, but all her guests were in “costume.” The photos were fantastic.
Looks like that girl was more into it than the guy. She chose that “dress”.
I guess since I’ve already been married, the ceremony itself really means nothing. It’s the end factor. I suppose if I got married again I wouldn’t give a damn.
My wedding was far from perfect, but it was sooo me and my husband.
I would not choose Star Wars, but a Renaissance wedding might be fun.
None for me please. The ex wanted a simple theme of fall which is definitely not as extreme as Star Wars, etc. I saw pictures from his wedding, and it was quite tacky actually. Done right, it would have been nice though.
