Have you ever been to the land of beer and beavers? If so, what did you think of it?

I like their hockey and their Assaisonées chips.

LeopardGecko's avatar

I enjoy myself and my fellow country men.

AstroChuck's avatar

I’m all for them.

That doesn’t include Manitoba/Manitobans.

Ehh…. (shrugs shoulders)

Shouldn’t that be “ey?”

jamielynn2328's avatar

I live in NY, so I’m a stone’s throw from Ontario CA. I love it there. The falls are beautiful and I have always enjoyed Toronto. Would like to go more North to find the Beavers though.. sounds like some good camping.

wonderingwhy's avatar

I greatly enjoyed all my trips to canada (Niagara area, Toronto, Ontario). I’m a great fan of seeing hockey live and the enthusiasm up north for it is wonderful and makes it that much better. I also particularly enjoy their ice wines and would highly recommend a tour of the niagara ice wine region if you have the chance.

I have always liked Canadians,as they are always prepared to stand up to be counted when it comes to world conflict. They fought honourably in two World Wars, and in my book they are tops.

Facade's avatar

I’ve never been. My views on Canadians involve the stereotypical “nice guy.”

LeopardGecko's avatar

@Facade – Ha ha, not quite.

PandoraBoxx's avatar

@AstroChuck, Think Fonzi owns that one…

toomuchcoffee911's avatar

I spend my summers canoe tripping in Northern Ontario. I really like it up there… great bacon.

AceSpadez's avatar

I’ve been around Ontario. The McDonalds up there is alot healthier than in the states

AstroChuck's avatar

@AceSpadez- I think you mean “less unhealthy”.

faye's avatar

Come to Alberta. We have Banff, Milk River, Lake Louise, Calgary Stampede. Just don’t come after October or before May.

jonsblond's avatar

I have never been to Canada. The closest we have been is the UP of Michigan, which we love (my husband and I). We would move to Canada in a heartbeat. Really, who wouldn’t want to live in the land of beer and beavers?!

AstroChuck's avatar

Victoria kicks ass. Ask for it by name.

Mamradpivo's avatar

Aren’t you cold?

oratio's avatar

I’ve only been to B.C. but my experiences of Canadians is that they are very open, friendly and very helpful. I had nothing but a great time there, and I would love to go back again.

dpworkin's avatar

I’m so sorry that their government is trying to kill them with socialized medicine.

AstroChuck's avatar

@pdworkin – The bastards!

LKidKyle1985's avatar

i wish someone would try to kill me with socialized medicine.

chelseababyy's avatar

I like every canadian so far, with the exception of Sandford Flemming.
aka the ‘father of international standard time’.

richardhenry's avatar

I had so much fun in Canada. Visited my friend in New Brunswick for two weeks. Shot a gun for the first time. BANG! I was pretty good at it.

@chelseababyy That guy is such a pain. Why can’t it be the same time everywhere?

stranger_in_a_strange_land's avatar

I married one. My high school French is now Quebec dialect. @richardhenry we do have standard time, GMT or “Zulu” in milspeak, but it only matches the position of the sun at zero longitude.

chelseababyy's avatar

@richardhenry I dunno, some shit about railroads. How the f does this effect us? I have no idea.

stranger_in_a_strange_land's avatar

@chelseababyy We wouldn’t want railroad trains banging into each other, do we? The RR schedules were a mess before the standardization; every little town on its own local time…

Jude's avatar

Thanks for responding, ladies and gents. I must say, she is a beauty here. If I had my way, though, I head out to Western Canada. Like Chuck said, Victoria is lovely. As is Alberta and the Maritimes (Eastern Canada). Quebec isn’t too shabby either. Now, Toronto and Ottawa, both great cities. Stay away from those Manitobans, though. ;-)

The cold? We have tough skin here, eh. Just don your warm woolies and you’re good to go. Toss back some Canadian Whiskey (let’s go with Crown Royal—the good stuff. I’m thinking that Blondesjon would like that. :)) and eat a warm stack of pancakes covered in real maple syrup. That’ll keep you warm.

Beer and pretty beavers. Grab your touques and mukluks, and get your arses over here. ;-)

gggritso's avatar

Thank God, more Canadians!

casheroo's avatar

I’ve seen many pictures but only went when I was quite young (when we lived in the Detroit area, and it was easy to just cross the bridge)
My father-in-law bought a house up there, in the middle of nowhere. He says they won’t let him back in I don’t blame them without paying lots of money. I don’t know. That doesn’t affect my opinion at all…just babbling. lol
I think it looks gorgeous and would love to visit. I’m a sucker for touristy locations, and long scenic drives…so hopefully one day my husband and children can do a roadtrip!

ucme's avatar

USA with manners.

stranger_in_a_strange_land's avatar

@ucme Very true, and physically cleaner.

BluRhino's avatar

I love Canada; I took a driving trip thru the midwest and up into Canada, over to BC and down to CA.Loved every minute..We did the ice field trip (thats not me in the pics) ..Wow. All the Americans aboard could say was, “what kinda mileage does this thing get?” sheesh. Wished we had more curling here, so I could wear my hat (cool,eh?) without everyone saying, “wtf is that?”.... There is so much ignernce….

Jude's avatar

@BluRhino Ha! Love the hat!! :)

LeopardGecko's avatar

@pdworkin – Ha ha, I think you should look a bit more into Canadian health care if you want to make a preposterous proclamation like that. Ignorance is not fact my friend. My parents, their parents and their parents have not yet been “killed” by socialized medicine. Get your head out of your ass. Socialist medicine is not a bad thing.

dpworkin's avatar

@LeopardGecko Irony deficiency, buddy?

LeopardGecko's avatar

@pdworkin – Not quite. I don’t know what you’re being brainwashed with down there, but your views are lacking all forms of logic. Please understand what you want to preach. I don’t care what you’ve been told, but there is not a problem up here.

LeopardGecko's avatar

@jmah – As I would expect. It is quite obvious that anybody…especially from the states claiming that our health care system is wrong or unfair is being mind fucked by the government.

There’s nothing wrong with socialism. Sure, Russian’s have been practising this form of government and I bet you’re all scared, because of the grudge you hold against them. But it’s not bad.

dpworkin's avatar

@LeopardGecko I will try again. Do you know what irony means? Perhaps you have heard the word “ironic” before. In my earlier post, I was making fun of the people in the US who have been fighting against universal healthcare. Now do you understand? You could think of it as a sort of a joke.

LeopardGecko's avatar

@pdworkin – No need for the rhetorical question bullshit. Calm down there bud. Believe it or not some US citizens have the same views as your sarcastic remark.

dpworkin's avatar

Three times you failed to understand that it was a joke. Was I just supposed to sit there and let you look like an idiot, or was it better that I finally managed to get through to you?

Jude's avatar

@LeopardGecko pdworkin forgot to take his grouchy pills. Don’t let him get to you,

casheroo's avatar

I don’t know why the hate for @pdworkin. He made a joke, you didn’t get the joke, now you’re angry. Okay.

Jude's avatar

@casheroo It wasn’t taken as a joke. It was a misunderstanding (I failed to see the joke). I get it now.

dpworkin's avatar

it’s over. no biggie.

LeopardGecko's avatar

@casheroo – I don’t think you read any of the needlessly insulting comments. He did make a joke, true, but it was subtle and like @jmah said a misunderstanding.

LeopardGecko's avatar

Yeah, it is over.

@pdworkin – (after your full-stop) that’s what she said.

janbb's avatar

I feel that many Canadians don’t have a sense of humor “aboot” their health care system. THIS IS A JOKE – we would love to have your health care system!

AstroChuck's avatar

@janbb- That would be sense of humour.

Jude's avatar

@aw, Chuckie, you honory Canadian. You hoser, you. :)

Jude's avatar

make that honorary.

AstroChuck's avatar

@jmah- I believe you meant honourary.

YARNLADY's avatar

If you count visiting Windsor as being to Canada, then I guess I have. The residents I met there all seemed like normal people. I cannot tell that anyone on my blogs is Canadian unless they tell me.

eponymoushipster's avatar

i find some of their catholic school teachers quite delicious.

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

My wife is married to a Canadian!

Crash into a Canadian with your shopping cart and they will apologize to you.

We don’t hate Americans although we love to criticise your government. Of course we love to criticise our government too. You just never hear about that because things that happen here do not get reported in the USA unless it is related to sports.

We love the great outdoors, possibly because we still can find it!

Warning: Alberta is beautiful but Albertans drive too fast and not too well.

Quebec is fascinating but in French. Montrealers drive crazy but they do it well.

Manitoba is flat and the people claim to be friendly. Some actually are.

Saskatchewan is a placeholder until we have something interesting to put there. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan actually is interesting!

British Columbia is beautiful. It is a much more expensive destination than Alberta. They think it is worth it for you to visit anyway.

Alberta charges no provincial (like state) sales tax. Kind of like Montana to the south.
It has lots of cattle, and Oil and good highways. It also has half of the Canadian Rockies.

Jude's avatar

@Dr_Lawrence And, what about the East Coast? :)

eponymoushipster's avatar

@jmah let’s not get started on newfies.

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

@jmah I have not been further East than Quebec in Canada.
I’ve been in ME, MA, NH, VT, NY, CT in new England though.
