Does anybody here know where else in the world yakitori is eaten other than Japan?

Asked by eLenaLicious (822points) January 9th, 2010

I know yakitori is obviously a popular dish, but I would like to know just how popular it is.
Like where in the United States (or other countries) do people eat yakitori?
Thanks!

I’ve never heard of it, actually… Does it go by any other names?

@fireinthepriory oh you have never heard of yakitori? I don’t really know any other names for it…here is a link on what it looks like:

it’s basically like Japanese chicken shish kabob…and I am trying to find out if it is popular world wide for my Japanese 2 homework.

I’ve never heard of yakitori.
But it’s chicken on a stick with seasoning. That pretty much occurs all around the world.

Just about every Japanese restaurant I’ve been to in New Jersey serves it. It’s a pretty common dish here.

I’ve had shish kabob and satay, but I don’t know if that counts!

Yakitori is eaten at most local style restaurants in Hawaii, because of the large Japanese population here.

It’s very common at Asian restaurants through out California.
