What self-help book do you advise for anger-management?
I come from a line of dominant characters with high tempers. Sometimes, my mouth can get the best of me. I realize that I need to learn how to best manage certain stress levels. I would like to know if there are any good and well-made anger management books out there. Be glad to know. Thanks.

If I knew I wouldn’t have 3 assault charges. You just have to find your own inner peace. No one can help you better than you can.
I don’t know of any, but may I suggest doing things you enjoy more often to offset the stress? And instead of a book on managing anger, why not pick up a few comic books or rent a lot of comedies? Sometimes finding something to amuse ourselves with makes the stress go away faster, and perhaps your family comes from hard workers who did not delegate fun time for themselves? sorry if I am way off-base in my suggestions
Your problem echoes my own to the finest detail.
What I do is count from one to ten in the really high tension moments.* Surround yourself with a scent you like – anger control is much easier when the atmosphere is more comfortable. Make sure you get as much sleep as possible. Eat enough. An empty stomach makes for a grumpy day. Keep yourself healthy. Go for walks by yourself. Make a steel backed commitment to not blow up during the day each morning you wake-up.
*I never count up to ten, because that’s like a rocked launch count and only encourages me to blow up more quickly.
I will suggest you the holy Bible,although there are plenty of other help that may contribute to your anger-management(try essential oils/aromatherapy,multi-vitamin,yoga,tai-chi,or else) book is not the only thing that will solve this matter.
I highly recommend Anger Management for Dummies. The For Dummies series always has quality from my experience. The book covers many circumstances and presents doable solutions.
The Dummy part is NOT a hint.
Harriet Lerner, The Dance of Anger. It’s not just a rulebook; it helps you to understand.
If you’re too angry to want to understand, just shoot yourself. (No, I’m not angry AT ALL.)
@Siren, Spinel, and Doctor D: “Thank you”.
@Spinel: You’re very welcome. I’m sure you’re a wonderful person and don’t need to be angry all the time. Sometimes it’s hard to get out of a habitual reaction…but you can do it!
@susanc that sounds interesting… thanks for that… I too struggle with this…
