Everyone has to have something, some cause or thing that motivates them to get up each morning. What’s yours? What thing in this life drives you to draw your next breath and live?

My chidren, my zest for life,& a little bit of defiance
I used to think I had nothing.
Then I started living for myself.
My wife, good food (with wine) and books.
Family, friends, and not knowing what’s gonna happen next.
Firm believer of trial and error here. Not sure why exactly I am so tenacious… just am.
To be totally honest, my family; namely, my sister. She needs me to stick around.
I have many moments of great joy. A lot of it is reated to how much I love my husband, love spending time with him.
In the last 10 years it also has to do with being free of pain for the most part (I had suffered for years with a chronic pain condition) and curiousity of seeing the world, meeting new people, experiencing new things. When I was younger I had more fear and was not as curious. Now, I am awestruck more often, and in the moment. Fascinated by things that affect the senses like beautiful scenery, beautiful music, the feeling of the warm sun on me. There are wonderful things all around us we can experience if we just take the time to appreciate them.
The people I love. my friends, my family, we need to be here for them.
I appreciate life, you ont live forever so live life and love it.
I love what I do. I love my family, and I would be devastated if I lost any of them, but I don’t see them enough for them to be the reason I get up in the morning. I love my friends, but at this point I know that friends can come and go… they make life far more pleasant, but they don’t make it worth living per se. I get up because I love my work and I want to keep doing it. I even go to work at least one day most weekends. I like being busy, I like doing things. Why would I stay in bed when there’s so much cool stuff going on that I’d miss out on?
Maybe my real answer is… curiosity. :)
@JLeslie wow, such a beautiful answer. totally agree with you.
Thanks everyone who said nice things about my answer. Much appreciated. :)
When all else fails, my curiosity gets me up. What will it be today, Bob?
My family and my dog. The first thing I see when I wake up is my dog wagging her tail. Who wouldn’t want to get out of bed after that?
pursuit of understanding.

My family. My husband. My close friends. My job. Anything fun I can do, life is beautiful
@Silhouette who’s Bob? :-)
my son gets me up most mornings
without him I doubt I would some days
snow wakes me at the moment
it stirs my soul
but most of all
the hope that some magic will happen
and I will feel
happy
My family and friends. Although I don’t have many friends, knowing that they care for me makes life worthwhile.
Also: art, music, the joy I get from learning something new.
Also also: kitty cats.
My responsibilities—children, wife, work, love, lover, etc, etc. If I could shed myself of them, I’m not sure I would stay alive. But right now, they sustain me.
I continue to live because I have the ability to occasionally alleviate the ache I live with as my base experience. Being simply not-in-pain is…wonderful. Anything else, like thinking, and interacting with my cats and dog, and making love, and getting high, is a bonus.
I am a mother – when I chose to keep my children and to parent them, I understood that to mean that I will be there for them, to raise them to be happy adults – that is my motivation and I’m damn lucky to have an incredibly supportive, intelligent, beautiful partner, an incredible love with him…I am privileged to have shelter and others in this house and animals around me..I have an education behind me that I want to continue and a lot of injustice in the world that I want to devote my life to solving
The list is too long for this medium, but includes my beloved wife, my children, my grandchildren, my Harley, reading, etc.
The complete enjoyment of everything and everyone around me. Each new day brings new experiences and new reasons for cherishing life and all that it has to offer.
