What is the cheapest way to frame something? ( like a poster?)
How much should it cost?
I want to buy posters, and frame them so they look fancy. Thoughts?

Masking tape.
Hey, it answers the question of “cheap”.
Maybe you’d like to reframe the question.
- 1 sheet of black card paper to use as the frame.
– 1 big cardboard box to cut up and use as a backing
– 1 sheet of clear plastic to put behind the frame and in front of the poster as glass
– 1 tube of glue used to hold it all together
they make poster frames that are clear and have (black or clear) edges that slide on… probably at staples, target, or a craft store? I used to have them as a kid but know that they still exist… check amazon too!
There are standard poster-sized frames. They’re a bit harder to find than the smaller sizes, but still cheaper than custom framing work. A department store may be able to special-order it for you.
There may be frame kits available on the internet where all you have to do is assemble and have a glass place cut a piece to fit.
Another alternative is to sandwich the poster between a sheet of plexiglass and masonite or plywood, add screweyes and wire to the back.
Go to discount stores such as HomeGoods, Big Lots!, Dollartree, etc. and look at the framed art. Often times you’ll find some nice looking frames with some crappy looking photo or piece of art. You can find them in all different sizes. Just remove the art and use the frame. It’s much cheaper than buying just a frame.
A passe-par-tout is relatively inexpensive. It is basically a sndwhich of glass, a matted work, and a backing, with no external frame.
Phrasing this as an absolute just begs for snark.
@mowens, for “fancy”, used colored masking tape, or cut it with pinking shears.
I like to take a piece of foam core or cardboard, buy precut anodized aluminum frames on line, have a piece of thin plexi glass cut to fit. It is relatively inexpensive but looks as if it were professionally done.
IKEA is a relatively inexpensive source for all kinds of frames.
I am a fan of matting posters, thats what I do with my art work as well. Its simple and it is cheap. Its basically fancy thick paper frames that you stick onto your posters. They come in all sorts of colors and can be found in almost any craft store.
Plant a baggie of white powder and a cheap pistol in their pockets, then call the cops.
