What annoys you about wearing glasses?

Asked by Sandydog (1265points) January 10th, 2010 from iPhone

What do you find annoying about wearing glasses?
This came into my mind the other day when I came in from the freezing cold and they steamed up for five minutes – could hardly see anything.
The real annoyance for me is to be cleaning the things all the time !!
Wish I could have the likes of laser treatment so that I didnt have to wear the things ( too strong an astigmatism in both eyes for that, and too costly as well ).

I like wearing them much better than contacts, which tend to dry out my eyes. I’ve worked with a few people who have had problems with laser treatment, so I’m a bit leery of it. They ended up still having to wear glasses.

My biggest problem is that I can’t read with my glasses on. My vision has changed where I should be wearing bifocals, except that I can read perfectly without my glasses unless something is closer than 10 inches from my face. I am constantly putting my glasses on and off, and tend to wear them pushed up on my head, because I’ve lost 3 pairs in the last 6 months.

What annoys me the most about glasses is when they become tilted to one side and look crooked on your face. It’s hard to bend them back to normal. Also, I hate have to push them up on my nose all the time.

I mainly hate having to clean them, and when the fog up as your said. I still prefer them to contacts, though. I think they look good on me, plus contacts dry out my eyes.

This glasses thing is new to me and the whole thing pisses me off!! I used to be the only one who could read a phone book. I hate how I don’t notice when they’re dirty and just struggle to see. I hate that they worked great when I first got them, but now, a couple of months later they don’t seem strong enough. Worst of all I hate that I have to admit that I am getting old!

The steaming. That’s it.

When I want to wear 3D glasses to a movie, and I have to wear two glasses at the same time. If I take the 3D glasses off, then I won’t be ale to enjoy the movie in 3D and if I take off my primary glasses, then I can’t see shit. Decisions, decisions…

@judi and all who feel the same about wearing glasses. One thing worth trying is Pinhole Glasses. I’d forgotten about them.
Its a pair of glasses with pinholes and no lenses or anything at all.
There’s a link here http://www.myopia.org/pinholes.htm
and some people after wearing them for a time can throw away glasses for good. Claims are made that they can correct your vision
I can watch the television with them on, but maybe I need to give them a bit more time to have any permanent change in my eyesight. ( I’m not selling pinholes by the way !! )

I hate to say this but I have to be honest, I hate the way I look in them. It’s purely a vanity thing. I wear them for long distance sight so don’t have to wear them all the time but I probably don’t wear them as often as I should because I feel self conscious.

Keeping track of them. Protecting them. Maintaining them.

As much of a nuisance as they are, I am extremely grateful for their existence. It’d be even more of a bother to bump into solid objects, get lost in broad daylight, be unable to read, and lose my driving privileges.

Mine slide down my nose constantly. I’m not greasy, but they EVERY FIVE MINUTES are on the tip of my nose. So fucking annoying. I hate wearing them when I’m skiing and I have goggles on because they don’t fit.

I hate it when they fog up when you enter a warm building when it’s well below freezing outside. You can wipe them off, but if it’s well below zero outside, they will just fog up again. :-(

Lying down with them on! Like if you are lying on the couch (on your side) watching TV…your face is pressing against the side of the glasses, which is super uncomfortable and causes the glasses to get crooked and press hard against your nose. But maybe that’s just me…

I wear mine all the time. I find them annoying when I am reading a book in bed and I am very sleep and fall asleep. I also find them annoying walking around in the rain.

I can’t believe no one mentioned the fact that rain always lands inside the lenses! If it landed on the outside, you could just blot it off, but NO, it lands on the inside so you have to do a full clean.

Yes, I’m learning to wear a ball cap.
