Should you do crunches everyday, or every other?

I am trying to start a regimen of ab exercises, I really want to tone my abs, basically I am just doing crunches and variations on crunches. I know I need to do cardio too, already covered. But what I am wondering is, I know when you do weight training you have to take a day of between training days for your muscles to heal, is it the same for crunches?

You should do SOME ab exercises every day. Balance is key. A circuit that includes Cardio, strength, core and stretching is best.
I work my abs vigorously but every other day to ‘maintain’ I would say everyday until you see the results you want… then you could cut back to say 5 days a week. A problem for me is when I work my abs… I lose my appetite. Then I start losing weight and have to drink those wretched protein shakes… yech! I skip rope every day, because I enjoy it and it keeps me coordinated and light on the dance floor.
@Tomfafa – rope skipping has always amazed me but I trip a lot when I try. How long do you do it and do you do all the fancy tricks as well?
@freckles – sorry I forgot to answer the question, I think you should do the crunches every day. If you were doing them with heavy weight you might need a rest day but just plain gut straining crunches, not too much to worry about. (as long as your back holds out)
