Tru if you want to spend a little cash is a nice place for an evening out downtown.
I’ve always been a fan of the get out and go somewhere thing, we’ve found some strange adventures along the way. But then I don’t mind driving 6–7 hours to get there if needed so I have a unusually large range to work with.
I’m usually pretty good at finding keeping tabs on them when we’re out shopping, and can often find something small to have waiting for us at a box office or restaurant table.
If you don’t want to spend a ton, you can always do a simple dinner at home, doesn’t take much to turn it from ordinary to special. Some white linen, a little candle light, a favorite dish, a good bottle of wine, and a bit of cheese and chocolate go a long way.
If she’s into cars, a show or a junker she can fix up (if she’s into that).
I’m a huge football fan and tickets always make my day. If she’s a bears fan a guided trip to soldier field might be good. It’s also hockey season, center ice, by the glass for the blackhawks would be cool (again if she’s into it)
If there’s been a live show she’s been talking about, get tickets! doesn’t matter when or where, just get them and if it’s too far away spend the evening over a nice meal planning how you’ll get there, what you’ll do along the way, and how much fun it’ll be when the time comes.
It’s so personal it’s hard to give specifics but anything that’s a surprise and creates a memory (a tale to tell as I’m wont to say) usually works well for and with me.
One of the best birthday presents I ever got was from a friend who I hadn’t seen in a couple years and one day I got home after work and there she was parked in my drive way, sitting on the trunk with her legs crossed and a big smile. I mean how do you quantify something like that.
I’m sure if you put some thought into it, which you’re obviously doing, it will go over wonderfully. It’s all about the feeling.
