Like for your dog? Is the dog a participant in the show? Or as an admission ticket? Or to sit on?
What breed of dog do you have? We don’t put our Retrievers in crates at shows.
i have a french bulldog, yes as a participant in the show…
It makes life easier, you don’t have to be with the dog constantly and you know it is safe. If you want to get a bite to eat or watch another class, ask the exhibitor next to you to keep an eye on your dog in its crate.
thanks, but i guess what i am really asking is, is it necessary in terms of regulations or whatever
You’ll need to check the rules of whatever organization is hosting the show, but I doubt it.
I’ve never been to a show where it was required, but as I say, it makes your life easier and keeps your dog safer.
Benched shows, of which there are very few, require your dog to be on bench during specified hours, there are usually hooks so that you can restrain your dog by its collar and leash, but again safer if you have a crate. It is a worthwhile investment.
