The iphone SDK will not add new features to the iPhone directly but will allow developers to write applications that may or may not add significant features to the iPhone such as GPS, A2DP, etc, according to rumors.

The SDK is not an iPhone update, it is the Source Developer’s Kit for creating native applications that will run on the iPhone. I’m hoping a lot of the existing third-party applications (that currently require a hacked or “jailbroken” iPhone to run) will make the jump and become legitimate applications.

no one knows until Steve Jobs says so.

this will basically make jail breaking legal and easy. so you can run the 3rd party apps without risking the security of your ipod/ iphone

No, the SDK will not making jailbreaking “legal” or “official” or “sanctioned” by Apple. The SDK will give developers a tool to create Apple-recognized applications that will run on the iPhone, not from the web as is the case now.

@Blunkhouse: Software Developers Kit.
@Joeysefika: You’re an idiot.

The Software Developers Kit is a set of tools that have been made available to developers. It contains a series of tools that will help developer in coding applications for the iPhone. The iPhone 2.0 software update will allow the applications that have been developed to be loaded onto the iPhone and be used. The iPhone 2.0 software update will also include some enterprise features.
