Why do some intelligent people make fun of those less intelligent?

Usually the ones that do that have low self esteem even though they are smart. Sadly it makes them feel better to belittle others.

theredjawa is right. These people have a low self esteem..so they think by making fun of others…that they will feel better.

Honest and true intellectual people don’t behave like that…only wannabes.

Just because someone is intelligent doesn’t mean they’re nice. The two don’t always go hand in hand. I suspect a focus on intellect and bashing others for being ‘less intelligent’ is a compensation for other, ahem, shortcomings. :)

And really, if these folks are basing their perceived intelligence on a level of education, I disagree. I know a number of smart and successful folks without more than a junior high school education and conversely I know broke and generally retarded Phd’s living at home with mom.
