What is the coolest thing you have ever seen at a wedding?
I am in the middle of planning a wedding and needed some ideas. Its going to be in a Methodist church (so music is possible) and there will be alcohol at the reception. The budget for this wedding is $15,000.

Chinese lanterns flying off into the night… That was pretty memorable.
Disposable cameras on the table, and little pots of bubbles.
Maybe not what you are looking for but… two lesbians getting married. :) (it was my sister )
I agree with @Pcrecords. Disposable cameras at every table is a wonderful idea.
I think Polaroid cameras would be even more fun, but probably not cost effective…
Plus they’ve stopped making film stock for polaroids. Shame.
All atendees having a good time! Almost impossible to obtain and too cool to see!
Ok disposable cameras are nice too. One at each table.
I went to one where the photographer set up a camera on a tripod and a light umbrella – basically a do-it-yourself photo booth where you could take your own picture – they had lots of fun costumes and props. As the night went on and people got drunker, the photos got sillier and sillier. A lot of fun.
Bullet holes and graffiti dating from the Civil War, but that was particular to the venue…
Exotic dancers (males & females) giving lapdances !!!
Ice sculptures of the groom and bride doing it!
I must be very tired!
@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard imagine if it had just been installed for that wedding.
The wedding planner saying “darlings simply everybody is having civil war chic! Why a wedding the other week had a dead horse as a centrepiece!”
…one guy dressed as boba fett or sideshow bob, who clearly didn’t read fancy dress as wear your best clothes.
Another nice idea is to have a camera and photo-printer set up so that guests can put photos of themselves in the guest book when they sign their names.
A bride and groom who circulate among the guests and thank them all for coming.
My generation of the fanily had “homemade” weddings where the receptions were about a celebration not a coronation. However my nieces were all about how the pictures and video looked; One had her guests from 7 mos-70 years tripping (literally) through the forest to a learing with just the right lighting effect
The coolest wedding of that generation was the niece who went back to basics with 200 guests. every one related by blood or marriage. The best man was a brother, the bridesmaids sisters/ Simple window draping and low flower centerpieces bui also food that looked and tasted like food.
The bridesmaids got to make dresses that were flattering out of the same plattinum fabric (wearable). The theme throughout the day was a wedding id about families coming together.
The most memorable one for me was very minimalist. The bride wore a tea length dress (which seem to be coming back), and the only attendants were a bridesmaid and the best man. The bridesmaid wore a dress that she chose, and both the groom and the best man purchased new suits from Brooks Brothers. The simplicity made it stand out, and the couple is still happily married. This is actually the only wedding where I can recall in any detail exactly what the bride had on. All the others get lumped into “white dress.”
At my cousin’s wedding, there were small brass bells on the reception tables, and every time the bells rang, the bridal couple was supposed to kiss.
I personally enter invitations into a calendar and toss it. I save directions to the reception.
Instead of a wedding cake my cousin and her husband had a tower of profiterolls!
My sister’s wedding cake was covered in Smarties (the English sort, filled with chocolate). It looked awesome.
Relaxed and radiant couple truly in love and sharing their happiness with their friends and family. you just get a feeling that this one will last!!!! Also, my brother sang that lullaby song that Billy Joel did for this daughter and danced with her alone. Not a dry eye in the house. He just danced and the song was playing, but he used to sing it to her when she was little.
