General Question

Have you ever clicked on one of those Facebook ads at the right hand side?

Asked by Sandydog (1265points) January 15th, 2010 from iPhone

Facebook seems to focus advertising on you according to your age, gender etc.
Have you ever clicked on one of these ads and what was the result? Im asking this because last June I took part in a survey on-line, but was then bombarded by phone calls galore from all over.
Are these ads just nothing but marketing ploys?

Ads are always marketing ploys. It’s their nature. I don’t click on any ads anymore; they are evil!

I don’t click on any ads that I don’t look for.

When I was on Myspace it would always have ads talking about buyin Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, and Ben Harper Tickets. I asked my friends and they had never seen those particular ads before and I saw them every time I went on it! How do they know?!

To answer your question no I never click on them.

I’ve clicked on them a few times out of curiosity. Never bought anything from them though…

Of course they’re marketing ploys, that’s the definition of an ad.

That said, I always get ads for gay dating sites and stuff…lol. That happened once I changed my “Intersted in” to “men”. :)

No, I haven’t. There’s been nothing in those ads that tempted me.

I did once. It was this thing that said “Teenage girl photographers needed” or something along those lines. I didn’t do it but I thought about it.

I did, and that’s where I found me new laptop case! I was also reminded of a band I was wanting to check out by one.
