Would you watch a show about the Civil War?

I’m thinking more along the lines of a prime-time drama than a documentary, one that tried to be neutral in its depiction of the sides of the conflict. Similar in perspective to “The Red Badge of Courage,” only shot from both sides of the line, and covering the entire war instead of a single battle. Maybe even borrowing the less-boring and not-racist parts of “Birth of a Nation.”

I guess Glory(film) doesn’t count, huh?
I think the revolutionary is a much more interesting time, then brothers fighting brothers.
If it was on HBO I probably would, but I don’t think any of the major networks have the balls to pull off an original, entertaining and thoughtful show on such an important part of American History.
Probably not. I find most american history pretty damn boring though.
I would watch a documentary, but I don’t care to watch war movies regardless of era.
@ragingloli – Whenever someone speaks as if there is only one of something, when there are in fact many, just assume they are American and mean the American version. Insular much?
Nope, I personally find it boring and there’s too much hate and stupidity involved.
i think it would be kinda cool. i’d check it out, but it has to be really good to keep my attention.
I think you mean historical fiction. I used to like that especially as a kid. Nowadays it is fun to watch but I have become more of a practical realist and prefer historical nonfiction….I prefer to read about history.
I would much rather watch a well-made documentary or something.
You mean like North and South? I didn’t watch that.
I like the Ken Burns documentary.
I would probably watch it. The Civil War (American) is interesting. Would much rather see something on the Irish one in the early twenties though.
