Does anyone know the artist/singer who is on a CNN commercial? Her name is "Belinda" Something?

Maybe I don’t even have her name right…? I am almost positive it was Belinda…maybe something else with a “B”? Just a beautiful haunting folk voice.

What’s the storyline or visuals for the commercial? Is it in their current flight? If not, when did it run?

@PandoraBoxx….This commercial ran about two to three weeks ago…it was an overview (as I can remember) of news stories and about how CNN covers them….a montage of images. The way I found the artist in the first place, was that I googled some of the lyrics in the song which led me to her name (which I cannot now remember….except it was Belinda something…) I thought I had bookmarked her to look her up later….but can’t find anything.

@JONESGH….No, I don’t think it is Belinda Womack (from what I can see.)

I know exactly which commercial you are talking about—I recently saw it a few times on a vacation in Mexico (watching CNN Worldwide) and just as I decided to write down some lines to search for it in the future, it was over and I never saw it again on the trip.

I did a little searching through Amazon.com based off of your “Belinda” idea and I figure it could be either Belinda Brady or Belinda Gillett. Do either of these names ring a bell? I really want that song as I enjoyed her voice too!

FYI—It might jog your memory; I believe some of the lyrics were centered around “stories” and “how they are told”. We totally gotta figure this one out!

I actually FOUND the CD on Amazon….and then LOST THE LINK so that’s why I’ve been wanting to find her. Supervisor….I remember the CD cover…the design….so if I can track that down, I’ll let you know….I’ll check the names you sent.

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It isn’t BELINDA (uh-clonk clonk…me hitting my head)...but the last name was CARLILE (get it…Carlisle as in Belinda? Uh, yeah….missed that!)

I’m so glad I followed this thread. She does have such a hauntingly beautiful voice.

I just finished reading a little more about her on Wiki and she’s really interesting.

She donates a dollar from each ticket sold at her concerts to a charitable foundation. I’ll definitely be buying her album ” The Story”

I just got her CD…..and listened to it….wow. It’s really beautiful. Someone who heard her said she sang a bit like Melissa Etheridge….similar but not quite. She has a real vulnerability in her voice that is different and distinct..but she can belt it out too.

“The Story” is melancholic, haunting….beautiful…this is someone you would find singing in a corner in a bar in the South somewhere.

I recommend it.

so funny I was just reading this thread and thinking I wonder if she means Brandi Carlile. I mistakenly called her Belinda once myself! I saw her this summer at Newport Folk Festival and she was amazing!! She sang The Story and Turpentine. She was on the main stage, it was a spectacular and I mean spectacular summer day. When she sang Turpentine the crowd joined in with the refrain. That’s when I fell in love with her. She’s got the greatest soulful voice.
