Why does DVD player prompt "No Disc" after loading?

Dynex TV/DVD combo virtually new, yet it suddenly stopped reading dvds. Haven’t tried a dvd lens cleaner yet; was wondering if anyone had an idea of why this has occurred and what a remedy might be should the lens cleaner not work.

Are they commercial DVDs – say, of a film, or are they DVDs you burnt yourself?
If it’s the latter, then the player might not read the type of disc you burnt on. Check if they’re DVD + Rs or DVD - Rs.
IT COULD ALSO BE THAT DISC IS SCRATCHED, DIRTY , AND OR THE LENS IS DIRTY, TRY ANOTHER DISC AND SEE IF PROBLEM PERSIST…
OOHH!!! AND ONE OTHER THING…MAKE SURE THE FILE FORMAT ON THE DVD DISC, IS SUPPORTED BY YOUR DVD PLAYER…
If these are home maded DVDs, try a professionally made one.
If you have this problem with Professionally made DVDs, check the Region coding (USA is 1). Try DVDs that are the same Region as the last DVD you played successfully.
If this happens with all DVDs, your lens is scratched (maybe), or your laser is burned out (with a new DVD player, this is probably the answer).
Thanks for all of your prompt replys.
In answer to your questions, none of my dvds will play.
I’ll try a lens cleaner this afternoon when I get off work.
Mine did this, but its one that I had for a while. You can pay about the price of a new one to have it repaired… or get a new one. If its still under warranty, you’ll be able to do that deal and not have to pay for a new player.
Well, I purchased a dvd lens cleaner this evening.
Of course it didn’t work, but while attempting to load the disc I noticed that the disc was not spinning. I had no choice but to reach into my bag of “If-all-else-fails” and give the darn thing a few firm shakes.
Whatdya know…it works now.
Thank you everyone!
