Do you feel the need to tell a fellow Flutherite that you have given them a "great answer" or "good question" point? Does it annoy you or do you return the "Lurve?"?

I’m not a fan of telling people I lurved them…it feels like I turn my good deed into a self-promotional advertisement. But maybe its just me…

As for when I’m on the receiving end of it, I find it helpful. It’s nice knowing which people like your contributions…its also beneficial knowing which don’t.

I give lurve to people whose answers I feel are helpful and intelligent. Unfortunately, I am biased toward people I am more familiar with or who I feel a connection with.

I like to sometimes. I feel like it makes it more of a genuine response than a simple point count. And I like when people express appreciation for a great question or answer by pointing out just WHY it was great.

No, I don’t always feel the need, but if someone legitimately makes me laugh out loud or asks a question that I enjoy, then I’ll send them a PM.

Wow, I lurve so many answers that I’d get all lost and sidetracked telling those people it was me. I like lurving anonymously.

I tend to use love when I don’t contribute to a thread, giving lurve to anyone who answers what I’d wanted to say.

If I’ve asked a question I’ll give a great answer to anybody that has replied with something helpful.

I don’t discriminate as some people infuriate me with one threads answer but win me over with another.

I will often whisper to someone that I enjoyed their answer and say qa if in fact I did. Of course I am a great fan of self aggrandizement.

I wish we could see who the person asking the question gave a GA too. It was a great feature but poorly implemented. Bring it back without the eye-fuck.

I type great answer when I want to second what the jellie has said, for the OP to see.

Sometimes, if I think something is a GA or GQ then yes, as well as giving lurve I will tell the poster that it was a G or GQ. More often than not, though, I am more discreet and give lurve without feeling the need to tell the person. I guess it depends on how great the question or answer was.

I sometimes add a note saying I wish I could lurve more, if I really liked the answer, I just want to show my appreciation, as someone has already said, I give ga’s if someone has answered a question as I would have, or if I like their repsonse.

I always do this with anyone I see who has less than 50 lurve as part of a welcome. Telling them I am giving them lurve, I think, helps them understand the process here, as well as feel welcome.
I will also tell someone I gave them lurve to make a point about supporting their position.

I try to avoid doing that unless it’s a truly great answer. Doing this was common practice on a previous site. Old habits die hard.

Having said all that… I’ve just reached 1000 and I’ve decided I WANT MORE!!!! I’ll trade lurve and whatever with anyone as shallow as meeeeeeee.

Personally, I find all the “thank you” chit chat a waste of time. Occasionally, I’ll PM someone.

I’ve never wanted to tell someone I’ve lurved him/her. The only time not getting lurve bothers me is when the asker has had several very helpful answers and doesn’t give any Great Answers to anyone.

Only when I feel that their contribution is being overlooked.
