I’m interested in computer animations of space and astromony, where can I find more and maybe a career path as well?

Asked by talljasperman (21919points) January 17th, 2010

I’m interested in computer animations of space and astromony ever since I first saw the voyager probes animations in a science museum… How can I get involved…I want to watch more and maybe help contibute to one or two.

Computer simulations should be a part of any astronomy or cosmology degree (at least they are a part of the ones I looked into). Alternatively, you could do a double degree combining computer programming and advanced physics. I’m not sure if there is an amateur scene for this type of things, you may have to find a physics based forum such as this one for more information.

Google it. This is a good link of links

And be sure to visit http://www.nasa.gov/ You’ll find some great animations there and a good place to discuss how to approach a career in the art. Sounds like a fun adventure. Good luck pursuing that dream.

Most 3D and animation software is super expensive. But, there is the free and open source Blender. The learning curve is steep but it can do some amazing stuff.

Now you have the tool. Start making some pretty stuff.

It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.”

I assume you already checked out the NASA site. Besides antimation of orbits and drawings of probably landscapes, the Hubble telescope pictures are better than any imagined drawings.
