My husband and a friend went to Pizza Hut and got a pizza last night. They said that when the person put the pizza in the box, he sprayed it with an aerosol can of something called “cold and sweet.” What the crap is it? Google has been unhelpful.

Only an uneducated guess here. olive oil. olive oil makes food shine as well as a protectorant against sticking. it may tend to also hold the heat inside the pizza.
That’s where they get that so called good taste. It’s a mixture of alcohol and Papa John’s flavor for a semi better tasting pizza. Good eat’n ;)
It’s a vegetable oil spray and serves no other purpose than to make the pizza look a little glossier… I ask for them to hold the spray and they do.
Once a long time ago when i was very desperate I worked for them, for one depressing induction day. They told me all about the little plastic thing in the box and the oil spray.
To be fair though that was the only thing that seemed weird about the food. The stuff that put me off was the constant customer badgering and team building.
@Pcrecords I trust what you’re saying…but why is it called cold and sweet then? sounds a little…peculiar? Do you think they’re keeping something from us?
@Pcrecords What did they tell you about the little plastic thing in the box?
Pizza Hut sprays everything with a shitload of grease (vegetable oil, probably) so they hardly ever have to clean the pizza pans.
no idea why its sweet and cool, in the uk it was just a generic brand of spray oil (like the ones they sell as a better way to fry stuff… less oil less fat)
Pizza Hut DO spray oil into the baking trays too, good point @syzygy2600
and @chyna i could tell you but then i’d have to kill you… Nah, its just a funny little thing to stop the box crushing down on your pizza. or garden furniture for a mouse.
It’s called Gold N Sweet and it is a garlic-butter flavored oil that is sprayed on the outer rim of all stuffed crust pizzas. And it’s no unhealthier than eating the pizza itself. lol It’s just flavored oil.
I’m going with @Thoracias on this. The first thing I wondered was “What kind of pizza did you buy?”
