Cigarettes. Music. Non-maxed credit card. A pen. Clean underwear. Toothbrush. Sense of adventure.
stop by cracker barrel and rent audiobooks that you can drop off at the next cracker barrel!
necessities. bringing too much stuff is just a distraction from what you could be enjoying going places you’ve never been ( to me at least). cigarettes. a nice pipe! good pipe tobacco. definitely music. clothes depending on where you’ll be traveling. a tooth brush and mouthwash should be a good combination, i’d think. flashlight.. matches… toilet paper’s nice. i’ll be traveling up to nova scotia this summer. then out to colorado. but i’m usually a light traveler so . . .
ah! a bike might be nice. if you have a bike rack i’d totally bring one.
Beef jerky, popcorn, gummy lifesavers with fruity middle, oatmeal raisin cookies from McDdonald’s, diet Coke, nuts, gum drops, and jelly beans!
I’d say a camera and extra socks or underwear.
A credit card with some room is really important to have as well. Anything can happen on the road. And if you’re driving, make sure that your car has a spare and good clean fluids. I’d do a once over and check all the belts and hoses for any wear or cracks.
If you’re not alone, I say Mad Libs. They get old quickly, but it’s at least one activity you can do. If you’re alone or with others and provided you have a semi-modern stereo with a CD player and/or MP3 jack, I’ve found that stand-up comedy routines (of people you think are funny, duh) can really pass the time. Some people like books on tape (or CD now, I guess), but I prefer to listen to Mitch Hedberg crack jokes for a couple hours. That’s just my preference. I’m sure you can buy or download something good.
