Does folding socks into a ball stretch them out?

Asked by traviscrawford (1points) February 29th, 2008

It seems like folding socks into a ball, or even just folding the top of one over the other, would stretch them out. Does anyone know if thats actually the case?

Not quite sure, but it does change their shape. I’ve been stacking my socks in my dresser drawers for long time because I don’t like wrapping them over each other.

yes I think it does. I have allways just folded mine in half its faster and you don’t have to worry about streching them out….

It sure stretches mine out! But then I use that as excuse to buy new socks!!! : )

Yeah, it stretches them out. 90% of the time the ball that’s created is significantly larger than your ankle, thus stressing the elastic beyond it’s normal length. Causing loose floppy socks.

A tip: spend the money and get some nice socks. They’ll last much longer and you’ll not only save money, you’ll be more comfortable and stylish.
