How safe is it for me to download music from Limewire? What if I want to get a program? Do I need to have something in place to protect myself? Basically can my computer do this safely or is there some special condom software that I need?

Good way to pick up viruses.
I don’t recommend limewire. I’ve known 2 people who got bad viruses from there. Try isount.com. You just have to download u-torrent. It’s easy
For the love of God, do not use Limewire, ever.
My roomie has been using Limewire for about a year now with no problems. What’s everyones feelings on isount.com then? Safer or still a risk? What makes it safer than any other file sharing program?
Yeah, I tried Limewire like a big dummy. I got some very nasty viruses that took me several days to remove. I had to suck it up and get itunes and pay. Beats the alternative.
another website is www.jamglue.com
which once you sign up, and activate your account, you can start downloading which ever songs you’d like.
@judochop Downloading using torrents is generally safe. When opening one, it tells you exactly what’s inside. If you’re downloading .mp3 or .avi files, you shouldn’t have any problems. I tend to be wary of downloading any games, though. I haven’t had a single problem with a torrent in many years.
I think isohunt is perfectly safe. Ive downloaded at least 200+ gigs from there and nothing has ever gone wrong with my computer.
btw when at home I personally use limewire, I just watch what I download/click on.
