Is MAC make-up really worth the cost and why?

I love love love mac! Defiantly worth it :)

I like their foundation products. It doesn’t seem that expensive to me.

No. I buy all my makeup at CVS. If you know how to apply makeup, it looks good no matter what. Granted, some products are really just terrible, but there are definitely affordable cosmetics that get the job done. You have to play around and find what you like best. But I’ve never had a reason to shop for makeup outside of a drug store.

The great thing about MAC is that they come in a ton of colors and stay put/wear well. When I was a teenager, I’d get free samples from them and they would last me the whole year (those pots of eyeshadow powder stuff). You could probably find cheaper products and/or ones with less chemicals in them, but if time is not on your side you pay for convenience. I’ve been liking Honeybee Gardens. Their stuff is much more natural (less harmful chemicals) and cheaper. They come off easier (which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you want) and ordering online is a challenge because the colors don’t always match the color chart perfectly. I think they are working on that, and I usually just buy neutral colors anyway so it is not a big deal for me.

i think they really are worth their money! They always stay on for really long time and also they last forever!!! I love their refined golden bronzing powder and their blushes…

I think MAC is awesome stuff, that is worth the money. I used other products before that looked good on me, but MAC looks GREAT on me hehehe…i think that it gives a great light and natural look, that just looks good. and i think compared to other “high dollar” brands, they have more variety to choose from

NO! Mac is very very bad for you skin. Any dermatologist will tell you that it is terrible for your skin.

1) Mac is beautiful
2) Mac OS is stable and doesn’t freeze every 5 seconds like Windows does.
3) Mac is (quite) powerful
4) Mac is cool

Their eyeshadows stay like no other….I also use a lot less than say….Maybelline. Eyeshadow = worth the money. Also…I only buy the colors Im going to wear a lot in MAC.
The eyeshadow doubles as an eyeliner. Worth the money.

I prefer Bare Escentuals Foundation….better on the skin. But Ive found a generic called EasyMinerals….better on the wallet….same ingredients. I also use this blush.

MAC has one mascara that i love….but i typically go with a store brand. or buy one that i use for better occasions.

My wife is getting a bit tired of MAC…

this all depends on how much of a makeup person you are. i’m a makeup artist, and there are certain products from different lines that i prefer for different things. one obvious reason for never buying drug store cosmetics is that you cannot try them first. you think you are saving money, however, if you end up buying several things you hate and will never use, you aren’t saving anything. MAC is one of the most low cost easy to use brands (as it offers colors for everyone and everything). if you can tell me exactly what look you are going for and if you have any special needs (sensitive skin etc), i can recommend some brands and products for you.

I agree with @Marie123 I love their eyeshadows, i also love their mascara. I think its definatly worth it!! Have you heard of the new makeup label Hard Candy?? It’s my new favorite and everything is great! bright pretty shadows and great eyeliners and lipglosses!

@faye you can get it at any major department store. I use their 3-step system too, and also the 7-day scrub. LOVE it.
Don’t buy drug store make up.. You don’t want to know what’s really in that crap.
