I live near, and work in the city of Charlotte, NC. People from Charlotte are called ‘Charlotteans’ which I like to pronounce ‘Charlatans’ much to my own amusement, but not to Charlotteans
So what the strangest demonym for places near you?

Flutherites.
Fluther Brothers.
FLutherers.
Barrheadians – people in my home town.
Fort Mackers – people in the city I was born.
Edmontonians – people in the city I work.
Kallingar. I live in Kallinge. In Swedish kallingar means briefs.
@ucme Even Wikipedia wouldn’t hazard a guess. How about ‘English’? :o)
Tampa residents= Tampons. loved that when I lived there
@gemiwing, could they reasonably be called “Tampaxians”?
Joisey-ites, although we never call ourselves that.
(I think people from Cockermouth would just call themselves “Lakelanders.”)
Cantabridgians from Cambridge, MA.
Glaswegians from Glasgow, Scotland.
Edinburgers (apparently) from Edinburgh, (pronounced “Edinburo”) Scotland.
I wonder about Hamburg and Frankfort, Germany.
Folks from Indiana are frequently called Hoosiers (for no clear reason).
People here are called “Pittsburghers” (and many a sandwich is also called a “Pittsburgher” or a “Wilkinsburger”, etc.)
San Franciscan (San Francisco)
Oaklander (Oakland) – either that or “gangsta”. Sometimes we say “Oakie” too.
form Daly City (Daly City) – nothing else works, either that or just “Filipino”
@DominicX no guess from Wikipedia either. How about Peninsulars? Dalyances?
@grumpyfish It’s the Hoosier State! Or is that circular logic?
@andrew Hoosier daddy? And yes, it is circular reasoning.
Chedheadians. Ah, Wisconsin.
@janbb: And for Manhattanites, it’s MOMA mia.
