I’m going to be making dinner for my family this entire week, and I do not know the first thing about cooking, except the basics, such as making quesadillas, sandwhiches, cookies, etc. Does anyone have any easy recipes, or know where to find them, that do not require many ingredients?

allrecipes.com – I have been using this site for ages as a non registered member. My general rule is that I only make the ones that get 4 stars or better and are rated by >50 people. I like that you can search by ingredients you want and don’t want.
Easy chili:
Brown ground meat and chopped onions together in a pan; no need for extra fat. Add 15 oz, can undrained red kidney beans, 15 oz. can chopped tomatoes, and 2–4 Tablespoons of chili powder. Simmer for about 40 minutes. Good over rice right away; tastes even better if refrigerated for a day and then reheated.
I love this soup so much I’ve made it twice in the last month.
Spicy Black Bean Soup
Ingredients
1–2 T olive oil
8 large cloves garlic, minced
2 C diced carrots (about 4 med carrots)
2 C diced celery (about 4 ribs)
2 C diced onion (about 2 sm-med onion)
2 30 oz cans black beans, drained
12 oz can pickled jalapeño (drained)
60 oz low-sodium beef broth
1 tsp kosher salt
1 dash black pepper
½ tsp cumin
1 tsp dry oregano leaves (if you use ground oregano, use ½ t)
bay leaf
juice of two limes
Optional toppings: sour cream, tortilla chips, grated cheese, lime wedges
Directions
Add olive oil to a large pot on med-high heat. Sauté carrots, celery, onion, and garlic about 4–5 minutes.
Add in the black beans, jalapeños, and beef broth. Stir to combine and then add the salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin, oregano, and bay leaf.
Simmer uncovered for about 20–25 minutes or until carrots are soft.
Remove from heat. Find that bay leaf and pull it out. Don’t forget or it will be very bay-ish. Yes, that’s a word.
Place half the soup in a blender and puree. Return to pan and stir into reserved soup. Make sure it’s heated through completely. Squeeze in the juice from limes.
Ladle into bowls and add toppings if desired. Serve with extra lime wedges.
i hear frosted flakes are pretty easy to make.
Microwaveable pancakes! Woohoo
Buy a rice cooker. Relatively cheap and so easy – you just plug it in, throw in some rice and water and turn it on. Since it’s not cooking over an open flame, you don’t have to be there while it cooks – you could put it on in the morning before you go to work and reheat the rice at night when you have to prepare dinner. Then you can heat up a can of beans on the stove and make rice and beans with salsa, or do a “make your own burrito” bar for your family. Not lots of cooking, just chopping – tomatoes, onions, cilantro, peppers, grated cheese, and some sour cream (or substitute plain yogurt) – plus rice and beans. So good, so easy, and each member of the family can also make the burrito the way he or she likes it.
Another idea to go with rice from the rice cooker – easy stir fry. Chop some veggies – I use onions, red peppers, carrots, bok choy, and zucchini – and stir fry them in a little bit of oil (canola or vegetable oil will work better than olive oil since it gets hotter). Add tofu if you want some protein. Add soy sauce or other pre-made sauces for flavor. Serve over rice.
Start with Italian recipes. Pasta dishes are easy.
Also, I forgot a really easy one that’s always a winner – potato bar! make some baked potatoes and put out lots of toppings – sour cream, butter, grated cheddar cheese, broccoli, salsa, etc. Super easy and fun. Serve some sweet potatoes too – yum! And salad on the side.
