Candy cigarettes were awesome. Why couldn’t they have just renamed them candy sticks or something and kept selling them?? Candy lipsticks were awesome too. Those might still be around somewhere, but I haven’t seen them.
@borderline_blonde Yeah the pc brigade were certainy out in force for the good old candy cigs.I suppose they did take it a little far when they coloured the tips to look like they were lit. Yummy though.
Bouchees, from Cote d’Or. You can’t get them in this country anymore because they didn’t have “appropriate” nutritional info on the label. They were really good; chocolate with a hazelnut filling.
@Dr_Dredd Oh god you just said the C word…....drool.
@Once again, yummy! Wasn’t she Miss America back in the day~
That little cloth bag of “gold nugget” gum, are they still selling that?
Turkish taffy
Lik-M-Aid
pop rocks
Those red, wax (flavoured) lips.
Candy liquid in wax coke bottles.
Anybody remember the “Skybar?”
This site sells a lot of the old stuff (including gold nugget gum, pop rocks, wax lips and bottles…). I had no idea all this stuff was still out there!
As a kid I remember dishes of ribbon hard candy being put out in stores during holiday time.
@Harp, that site is great! I’ve bookmarked it and decided to order some stuff to give as Valentine’s Day goodies to my mom and grandma. Thanks :D
@hungryhungryhortence I still buy ribbon candy every Christmas. I get it at Kmart.
It’s thin and beautiful and delicious!
@wilma: Wow, I haven’t seen a Kmart in several years either, thought they got bought out or something. Maybe the WalMart mafia pushed them out of our state. I will go to the Kmart website and see if I can order some. The candy is definitely more beautiful than tasty but I want it for nostalgia’s sake. Thanks for the reference.
Mothers Iced Raisin Cookies. Sinfully good, but dropped by Kellogg when they bought out Mothers recipies.
I miss the green (lime) Tootsie pops and
I haven’t seen Chuckles in a long time.
What about those cinnamon toothpicks, were they called Hotpicks?
@Harp Thanks for the link. I have the feeling they’re about to get a mass order from Flutherites ;)
I used to love a candy bar called “Annabell”. It was chocolate covered marshmallow
(my favorite!) with a thin layer of chocolate in the middle of the marshmallow. So scrumptuous!
Micro-Magic Milkshakes
Lemon Cooler cookies by Sunshine
PB Twix before they changed the cookie to chocolate (ruined my favorite candy bar)
Summit candy bar
They have skybars at Cracker Barrel.
I don’t know if they still make it, they probably do, but I would give anything for some Abba Zabba. Taffy and peanut butter? YUM!
Sara Lee Fresh Orange cake. Yum!
@janbb Sara Lee is another company that wasdestroyed when it was purchased by a corporate giant. They changed all the recipes and made them much worse.
So true. It was really good many years ago.
mmmm….Bubs Daddy bubble gum….one foot long tube for a nickle! flavor!
Oh yeah, I loved CANDY CIGARETTES too!!!
But I was not allowed to smoke candy cigerettes.
When I was eight years old, I stood on the curb in front of my house and puffed on the candy cigs whenever cars drove by. But I was caught by my mother and punished!!!
seriously.
Too late though, I was already hooked! I would have eventually kicked the habit with a candy patch on my arm.
Good thing no one ever invented Candy Crack huh?
@marinelife I see the liquid wax bottle thingies all the time in Texas!
Bonomo’s Turkish Taffy. Smith Bros licorice cough drops.
