Scion tC owners, what do you think of your car?

Asked by titania (44points) January 23rd, 2010

I’m seriously considering purchasing a Scion tC. If you own or have owned one, what was your experience with it?

Scions are generally very good cars. It can take a while for an honest person to find something to criticize in one. Are you in the market for cheap sedans like the tC, the low price range near the tC’s, or what?

I haven’t actually owned a tC, but a thorough knowledge base composed of magazines and TV programs, among other things, work just as well.

Speaking of Scions, the first models were known as a more exciting strive from the usual boredom that Toyota models incur. (I don’t want to say “boredom,” but Toyotas can get a bit dreary) Be aware that the newer version of the xB and the xD (replaced the xA) are apparently not as fun to drive as the first models, deevolving back to their Toyota ancestors. They do look a bit more modern and may be better in other ways.

Tell me what you’re really looking for and I think I can help you out.

I have a 2007 tC.

Pros:
– It comes with everything on the base model, including power windows/doors, A/C, panoramic sunroof, CD player, AUX input. All of the other cars I looked at did not come with these (Honda Civic, Mazda 3) unless you added packages for thousands of dollars.
– I really love that it’s a hatchback too. I can fold down the seats and fit my bike in.
– I’ve had several people comment on how roomy the back seat is for a small car.
– It’s a pretty smooth ride
– It has Toyota parts and warranties and service… can’t go wrong there.
– Mine is a manual transmission….awesome pickup.
– I bought it right after I graduated from college: they had a $400 rebate for recent college grads.

Cons:
– For a smallish car, I only get 25–28 mpg.
– If you live anywhere there is snow, you should seriously consider snow tires for the winter. I live in Upstate NY and we have a long, snowy winter. I went for the snow tire and rim package for about $800 and it is the best investment I’ve ever made.

If you have any other questions let me know. It’s a fun, affordable car.
