Can a Mac computer be set to ask a password when you wake it from Sleep mode?

My parents bought one and I have no idea!

System Preferences—> Security—> General—> Require Password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver

yes duh…
I have done it a million times
go to system prefeinces
then u go to security
and then u chose the littile box that says required password to wake from sleep
and that’s all
