Do actors and actresses who smoke in movies smoke in real life? What about the ones who don’t smoke in real life? Do they use fake cigarettes?

They use herbals, many times.
Many actors who have strong aversions to smoking refuse to smoke, and many actors begin smoking because they smoked in a show or movie.
In Singin’ in the Rain, Cyd Charisse, who danced with Gene Kelly in this scene, had to learn how to smoke for the role and didn’t do it again after she shot it. I can tell she’s not a person who normally smoked, but that’s only because I used to smoke.
I notice a lot of times in movies the actor/actress doesn’t seem to inhale.
I have also noticed there is a technique of digitally creating the illusion of smoke (or cold), though it is not thoroughly convincing.
I heard they used clove cigarettes. This information comes to me from my kids, so if there is no such thing as a clove cigarette, don’t everybody jump all over me.
@Trillian No, clove cigarettes are real, but they still have tobbacco in them so I don’t know what would make them better. They could be right I just have never heard of that before.
I have heard that the ones that don’t smoke or refuse to smoke a real cig will use what they call an “herbal cig” and it isnt what some might think. It isn’t weed. I’m not sure what it is but it doesn’t have tabacco in it and isn’t addicting from what I hear. I know for a fact that Colin Farrell is really smoking in all of his movies becuse he actualy smokes in personal life.
