Meta Question

How do you reply to a comment on Fluther with the @ sign? I see people doing it and was wondering how they do it. I am still relatively new to this site.

When members post a comment, and you want to respond to that comment made by a particular member, how do you respond with the @ sign? That would be easier than going to the member’s page and sending him/her a comment.

Ah, a meta question.

I am sure you can find the @ sign on your keyboard. Just press it while in the message box and a list will drop with names. Otherwise just add the nick to the sign. Then you post and the @nick will be in bright red.

Type the ampersand symbol (@) before typing the members name. It is case sensitive .

When you type the @ sign the names that have already answered will pop up towards the right and you can click on the one you are looking for. If the names do not come up hit delete until they do. It does not work if you have “spaces” to the right if that makes sense.

To further elucidate on what @oratio said, when you type the @ sign, a box drops right beliw the text box with the user names of all who have answered the question and the question asker.

When you type in the @ you should see this and you can select the user you wish from the drop down menu.

Alternately you type it will auto-fill the name and you can hit return to enter it.

@Dog Good one. tinypic.com, aye? It seems like a good one. There was one site mentioned the other day that seem spiffy too, but lost track of what it was.

@oratio Tinypic is the only one I have used but I am open to trying others.
