It doesn’t have a name related to meals in the U.S. In England. it is tea time.

@Blondesjon since when? i call that the time between breakfast and mid-morning “snack”.

@marinelife I think, in the US, Happy Hour would be acceptable . . . don’t you think.

for the senior set, Early-Bird or Blue Plate Specials

As others have said: Tea time (in my case, espresso), Merienda, or Nosh as the case and culture may be.

I call it Afternoon Tea, even if no tea is involved. I usually just have a small meal.

I say afternoon. I usually have some kind of a small snack around 3, which I call my “afternoon snack”. Usually it’s even healthy! It’s amazing how fast bananas and apples disappear in our house. If you’re doing something elegant or fancy, and want a “technical” name for it, I would still call it brunch. That’s what we always have on Christmas and Thanksgiving (I mean the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals are always called brunch). I don’t know. I vote we make it officially called Lupper or Sunch or Dunch or Dupper. Take your pick.

The afternoon. Eating during that period of time would be a late lunch, early dinner or a snack.

@eponymoushipster I was totally going to say that. If I can ever get away with a nap during that time, I take advantage.

But I suppose most people call it afternoon.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@ubersiren seriously, the best naps are at like 2:30–3pm.

I call it nap time…the owner of my company calls it work…I don’t like him specifically for that reason.

The long stretch between being hungry and anticipation of good, wholesome microwave food. * smiles * or when I am at my girls house she really knows how to make a good meal. Her culinary skills are quite spectacular.
