If you could ask one person one question...

Asked by Soubresaut (13714points) January 25th, 2010

I really like questions. So I started wondering what questions I wanted to know the most, and who I wanted to ask things… and then I realized, I wasn’t sure! I’m asking you this question because I thought it was a good one… I’m still trying to figure out how I’d answer it….

If you could, right now, pick someone, anyone, you know to meet at a coffee shop and ask them one question, no matter what it is, with the promise that they’ll answer honestly and not judge you, who would you ask, and what would you ask them?

And then, if you could right now pick anyone in the world, whether they still walk on the earth or have passed, and ask them any question, who and what?

Now say that you have to choose between those two options… which would you choose, and why?

Honestly? Too personal to say.

Otherwise? God. “What’s the deal with having your son killed?”
Oprah. “What would I have to do to get written into your will for a few stacks?”
Jesus. “How was rome?”
Gandhi. “What was your favorite food?”

I would sit me across that table and ask why I was such an immature brat. and then I’d sit my Dad down and get to know him for as long as I was given.. He died when I was a girl.

I would ask Alexander Hamilton what he said about Burr. No one else will talk. They said it was unprintable and unrepeatable.

Tony Blair – Did you really think regime change wasn’t going to destableise Irak?

Trucker in a truckstop cafĂ© eating silver dollars pancakes. “Without posturing, how deep is your pain?”

I would ask my dad, “Why, why did you do what you did and why haven’t you apologised to me, for how it made me feel”.

I would ask this criminal, “why did you enter that Pizza Hut and shoot Officer Pinkelton?” this officer was just waiting in line to pay for his carry-out pizza to take home to his family and this idiot came up behind him and shot him behind his left ear. Officer Pinkelton died. this idiot was captured and terminated, but he never told us why he did what he did.

If my grandfather was still alive I’d ask him who his father was. My grandmother knew the answer to that question, but the secret died with her.

If he was still alive, I would ask the driver of the truck that killed my wife; why did he drive that huge thing knowing the brakes were bad. He was killed in the wreck too. It won’t bring her back, but at least I’d like to know why?

I’d also like to have a few hours alone with the creep who abused my lady before we met. There would be no questions asked in that encounter.

I would ask this one person ‘why are you so hell bent on neglecting me?’

I would ask Stephan Reil “What the hell possessed you to put two turbos on a Lamborghini engine, and put it in a family wagon? Are you mad?”

Okay, so I’m not being as deep as some other people on this thread, but in my current situation I can talk openly to the people that really matter to me, and I like to leave the past in the past because the future is far more important. However I would still love to sit down with my grandfather (if by some means he could live again) and talk to him about life in the 20s, fighting in WWII, and what it was like for a returning soldier. I suspect this is disqualified though, as it would be a conversation lasting days rather than one question.

Ha, this is interesting. A few other jellies and myself have pages on this site called Formspring. Basically what it is is a site where you can ask other people anything you want. And you can ask it either anonymously or include your name. It’s pretty cool to see what kind of things people ask you or want to know about you. (Some of them are inside jokes, but most are legit questions.)
I’d ask my mom questions about my dad. They got divorced when I was three and I never really got to know him very well. We talk about him sometimes and I know that she’d answer anything I asked her, I just… don’t. But I’d like to. Maybe I will some day.

@phil196662 Thanks, but can we swap the chocolate cake for Ice Cream?

phil196662's avatar

You didn’t hear I do layers of cake and Ice Cream together… For you my dairy lover I’ll make it three _ thin layers_ of cake (fuggy brownies) and five ice cream! and toss in a BF approved foot rub &/or back rub!
