In "Hold Your Head High" by Notorious B.I.G. what does he mean by "she knew me and her sister had something going on"?

Asked by mizkendall3939 (151points) January 26th, 2010

It says something like “My mother kissed me but she’s glad I’m gone. She knew me and her sister had something going on.”

What does he mean by that? What was going on between him and his Aunt? Thanks!

“Something going on” = a sexual relationship.

I find it a bit odd that he describes a sexual relationship with his aunt in a song titled “Hold Your Head High”.

Ewww. Apparently he means a head a bit lower on his person.

I think that he meant that him and his aunt were going to go out and perhaps share a delicious ice cream soda and his mom was so jealous because she was on a diet.
or he fucked his aunt

HELLO! The words you put are incorrect. The lyric says “my BABY’S momma” and so forth… make sense now? He was screwing his baby’s momma’s sister.

That makes a lot more sense, but it’s so much less interesting.

also, when have you ever heard a rapper say the word “mother” when not preceding f—er it’s always momma or mutha
:)

@iLove
Ahhh the oft misunderstood babymama…a vernacular amongst the African American community to signify the mother of your offspring, not to be confused with mothafucka which has little to do with incestuous coitus with your parent. i also speak jive

Biggie Smalls?

@Trillian
Yes Christopher George Latore Wallace (May 21, 1972 – March 9, 1997), popularly known as Biggie Smalls (after a fictional gangster in the 1975 film Let’s Do It Again), Frank White (based on a fictional drug baron from the 1990 film King of New York), and by his primary stage name The Notorious B.I.G
